I returned his smile, curious about how he had heard me coming when I couldn’t even hear my footsteps.

"Good morning, Luigi. I'm doing well, thank you. I was surprised you weren’t already here when I arrived earlier.” I teased him.

He chuckled. “I had something to attend to otherwise, I would have assisted you in preparing sir’s breakfast.”

I grinned at his response.

"Is there anything I can assist you with this morning?"

As the thought of breakfast crossed my mind, I hesitated momentarily.

Normally, I didn’t have to worry about food as Luigi always prepared meals on time, but on the rare occasions that he wasn’t around, I was reluctant to rummage through their kitchen as I was an outsider, and I didn’t want to overstep my boundary.

I usually settled for making a cup of coffee with the coffee machine and making sandwiches in those situations.

“Um, I was just considering having breakfast, but I'm not quite sure what's available or what I should have," I answered with a sheepish smile while rubbing my hands together.

It was an action I often did when I wasn’t sure of what to do or say in an unfamiliar situation.

Without missing a beat, Luigi offered his assistance.

" What would you like to eat? We have a range of options available, from fresh fruit and pastries to a cooked breakfast with eggs, bacon, and toast. Say what you like and I will personally cook it for you."

My eyebrows lifted to the ceiling.

Luigi would personally cook for me?

While Luigi did prepare Dante’s father’s meals, that was only because of the strict dietary requirements.

The Cortini family had a cook, several cooks, to be exact, as expected of a wealthy family.

I resisted the urge to roll my eyes.

“Oh, there’s no need for that. I can wait till the cook prepares breakfast. There’s no need to bother yourself with this. I’m sure there are tasks you have to get started on.”

Just because Luigi was a butler, it didn’t mean I wanted to take advantage of his services.

Besides, I was pretty sure that cooking breakfast for a mere nurse was not part of his job description.

“It is not a problem, Miss Angela. You are not bothering me.”

He reassured me with a knowing glint in his eyes as if he could read my mind.

Don’t tell me he was a mind reader in addition to his many skill sets.

“Anyway, I had already decided to prepare breakfast for the family today as I have nothing else to attend to this morning until the family members summon me.”

I narrowed my eyes at him, doubting his words, but there was nothing on his smiling expression to give him away.

As reluctant as I was, a sense of relief washed over me as I realized I wouldn't have to worry about preparing breakfast myself.

"That sounds wonderful, Luigi. In that case…I’ll just go with whatever you were already going to prepare. I’m not a picky eater.” I gave a bashful smile.

Even though he insisted on making breakfast for me, I wasn’t going to make demands of what I wanted to eat.

Besides, I didn’t lie.

I wasn’t a picky eater.
