“What happ-” My words were muffled by Jessie covering my mouth

I frowned. She gestured to the ceiling, and I looked up but didn’t understand what she was trying to communicate to me.

It took a while before I finally understood what she was reacting to.

In the silence that reigned between us, we could hear Dominic shrieking in laughter and Dante’s deep voice popping up intermittently.

“He’s still here?” She whispered loudly, totally ruining the point of her whispering in the first place.

I rolled my eyes.

Jessie was such an eccentric character, and there was no one quite like her.

From her sparkling hazel eyes that radiated mischief to her infectious laughter that could turn the saddest moments into a moment of hilarity, Jessie had a way of filling every moment of my life with happiness.

Her vibrant personality was attractive.

She could draw people in with her easy charm and genuine interest in others.

She had an innate ability to make everyone feel valued and heard, always lending a listening ear and offering comforting advice when needed.

But beyond the laughter and adventures, Jessie had a heart of gold.

She genuinely cared for those around her, showing kindness and compassion to everyone she encountered.

Her empathy and understanding were invaluable, offering a safe space for vulnerability and fostering deep connections.

In short, Jessie was the embodiment of a true friend.

She brought laughter, adventure, and unwavering support into my life.

And no matter how crazy she appeared to be at times, I cherished every moment spent in her company, knowing that with Jessie by my side, life would always be a little brighter, a little more exciting, and filled with endless love and laughter.

Concerning her excitement about meeting Dante, I don’t think that needs to be explained. Dante was rich, my son's father, the first man I had truly fallen for, and a well-known billionaire.

Was it any wonder she would be highly interested in finally meeting him?

I nodded my head in reply to her question.

“Then what the fuck are we still doing here?”

She whispered furiously before dragging me off to the living room.

I was yanked to the living room before I was finally let go.

By the time I got my bearings, it was to see Jessie already introducing herself to Dante, who was on his feet and shaking Jessie’s hand while holding Domininc with an unoccupied arm.

“It’s finally nice to meet you!” Jessie grinned.

“I’ve heard so many stories about you. It’s nice to put a face to your name.”

What utter bullshit.

As if she hadn’t already known his identity and seen his face in newspapers and magazines.

What nonsense was she saying?

I covered my face, already embarrassed by Jessie.
