“You’re a nutcase.” I laughed, giving her a final embrace before I went off with Dante.

“I’m so sorry about Jessie.”

I apologized when we walked out into the car park.

“There’s no need to apologize. I wasn’t offended. It shows how much she cares about you. Besides, she’s interesting. She’s a character.”

Dante brushed off my apology with a cheeky smile.

I wasn’t sure where we were going.

Dante had said it was a surprise, but regardless, I knew I would enjoy myself, and when we later pulled up to a high-class club, I was right.

As Dante and I stepped into the high-end club, the pulsating music and vibrant atmosphere enveloped us, casting a spell of excitement.

The dance floor was alive with rhythmic movements and flashing lights, creating an electrifying mood that made us feel alive.

We found our way to a private booth overlooking the lively crowd and settled in.

Surrounded by the energy and infectious rhythm, we let go of all inhibitions, losing ourselves in the music and each other.

The night became a whirlwind of laughter, dancing, and stolen glances, a timeless moment of pure joy and connection.

In the end, our night ended similarly to the very first night we met.

As we couldn’t go back to my house as Jessie and Dominic were there, and it would be weird ending such a lovely date in a house filled with other people, Dante booked us into a hotel for the night.

The contrast between this night and our first meeting was palpable, as the atmosphere brimmed with a different energy.

There was no trace of the desperate yearning that had consumed us back then.

Instead, we reveled in the present moment, free from any sense of urgency or longing.

It was a night of genuine connection and shared enjoyment, where we could simply be ourselves, basking in the pleasure of each other's company.

This time around, there was no rush to devour each other.

Instead, we met in the middle, languidly moving our lips against each other in the center of the room.

Dante then pulled away from our passionate kiss and began to unbutton his vest.

I watched Dante disrobe and my heart began to beat rapidly in excitement.

It wasn’t as if I hadn’t seen him naked before but that had been three years ago.

I was surprised though, when his torso was revealed to me.

Across Dante’s pale skin were some scars.

There were thin lines scattered over his upper body and intertwined with these thin

scars were two circular marks that I recognized as bullet wounds.

I tentatively reached out her hand to graze a scar just below his collarbone.

He leaned into her touch, blue eyes still fixed on her.

“What happened?” I asked in a whisper, slightly mortified at what had happened to him.
