Tears welled up in my eyes.
He was gone.
My patient was gone.
And so, I remained by his side while waiting for Luigi to return with Dante and his mother.
It was a reminder of the fragility of life and the fleeting nature of our existence.
Dante burst into the room.
No words came out of his mouth, but his expression was one of pure anger.
He knew that his father was in the clear and healing well.
How could he all of a sudden end up like this.
I tried to explain what I had witnessed when Isabella entered the room.
Her frantic cries were over the top as she poured over Salvatore’s body.
This was definitely not the same woman that barely visited him when he was alive.
Something about her theatrics was off-putting, but it could be the initial shock and realization that her husband was actually gone.
Dante, on the other hand, had a different look altogether.
A look of determination.
I knew he was not going to stop until he got to the bottom of this.

I stood in the somber atmosphere of the funeral parlor, surrounded by a sea of mourners.
The air was heavy with grief, and the weight of loss seemed to settle upon every shoulder.
We had gathered here to bid farewell to Salvatore, Dante's father, but there was a tension in the air that went beyond the sorrow of his passing.
I couldn't help but feel a sense of unease.
Earlier, there had been a reading of Salvatore's will, and it had revealed a surprising revelation.
Everything had been left to Dante and nothing to his stepmother Isabella or his sister Caterina.
It was a decision that had sent shockwaves through the family, leaving everybody in disbelief.
Dante and Caterina were stunned, while Luigi looked thoughtful.
On the other hand, Isabella appeared angry, with her face set without any emotions.
Her anger confused me until I heard what she whispered to Dante in disbelief.
“He knew he was going to die and didn’t tell us anything!”
For Mr. Salvatore to make a will when he was still recovering was indeed suspicious.
It looked like he knew that something was going to happen to him, but how?
