"Shit." Dino stares around at the mud pit. "There’s no more water."
"Not so fast."
We turn around to see Ryder, Cyan, Enzo, and Mattie march toward us with a giant fireman’s hose.
They splash water into the swimming hole, giggling in the cute onesies they wear.
The water fills to the brim, and soon, we can all relax in the swimming hole again.
"Thank you, boys." I tip them a grateful nod.
Ryder bows. "We figured the swimming hole might lose some water with all these people. Our Daddies bought us this hose so we could be prepared."
As if this is the magic cue, Ryder, Cyan, Enzo, and Mattie run into the bouncy house and then leap into the swimming hole.
They laugh and splash each other, chuckling and giggling.
Nikolai, Igor, Timofey, Demetri, Aleksei, Roman, Sasha, and Maxim all share a look.
They jump into the swimming hole, too, having a grand ol’ time.
Christian, Rowan, Karter, Lucas, Macon, Bentley, Preston, and Santiago do the same.
Soon, every single person at the wedding piles into the swimming hole.
Even Nonna and Nonno join.
"Ow," Nonna grouses. "Don't jab me in the face with your elbow."
"It’s a little hard, Nonna," Nonno hits back. "I can’t move two inches."
It’s packed with people, mud bank to mud bank.
I try to move toward my boy, but there are too many people around.
"Dino," I shout, searching for him. "Come to Daddy."
Suddenly, a bubbling noise appears from under my legs.
Dino’s head pops up and he wraps his arms around me. "I was right by your side, Daddy. Where I’ve been the entire time."
I crush my lips to Dino’s.
The world stops spinning and despite all the people surrounding us, it feels like it’s just us two.
Yes, Dino’s my boy and I’m his loving Daddy.
"Show me your ring, pretty boy."
Dino wriggles his fingers. "It’s sooooo sparkly."
I kiss him again. "Mine."
Dino will be mine.
Today.
Tomorrow.
Forever.
