We push on.

To the choppers.

To my relief, the fifteen helicopters we’re using are ready for us.

"You made it right on time." Nonno steps back, gesturing to the choppers that are buzzing with excitement. "They’re equipped with military grade machine guns that’ll be able to take even the most explosive-laden submarine out."

"Great to hear." I cuff Nonno’s back. "We couldn’t do it without you."

"Wait," a voice shouts from inside the house.

I flit my head to the side and I’m surprised as hell to see Nonna rushing toward us.

Nonna wears a leather jacket with a combat sniper pilot’s helmet.

A giant chain of bullets is snapped across her chest.

Nonna slides sunglasses over her eyes. "I wouldn’t let you rescue Dino without me."

Nonno takes Nonna’s hand and leads her into the first helicopter. "You’re going to kick ass."

"I know I am." Nonna blows Nonno a kiss. "I don't need you to tell me that. I’m a powerful strong woman who don't need no man."

We all pile into our choppers.

The blades whir through the air as we lift off the ground.

It’s time for action.

ChapterTwenty-One

DINO

"Let me go, you psychopaths!" I yell, stomping my foot on the ground.

God, these mobsters are annoying.

Are they even mobsters?

I survey each of the Riccardi brothers.

Truthfully, Luigi, Petrie, and Giuseppe aren’t as scary as my friends made them out to be.

Giosuè told me he was shivering in his swim trunks after they kidnapped him, Faro, and Jericho when they went crab catching.

I, for one, think they overrated their fears.

I mean, these Riccardis are total pansies.

Right now, they’re whining about someone who ate another’s slice of cake in the submarine fridge that one brother was storing for after they murdered me.

I also fail to see how Ryder, Cyan, Enzo, and Mattie were scared.

Bunch of sissies. I can handle these "Mafia men."

Petrie turns his head around.

His eyes narrow. "You’d be wise to keep your voice down, Little boy."
