“After you left today, I knew that was the end for us. I knew I would never get to see that sparkle again. The thought made my heartache. And I...” The stress in Dereck’s tone was audible. “…I couldn’t deny anymore that I still love you.”

Alina pivoted her body, her eyes blinking rapidly. “What are you saying, Dereck?”

“I’m saying I want to be with you again. If you would have had me,” Dereck’s gaze was piercing, but Alina remained flustered. Her mouth opened and closed again, but she said nothing and she touched the corners of her cheeks repeatedly. “I understand your hesitance. Take your time and think it over,” Dereck said. “You don’t have to make a decision at this moment.”

“There’s nothing to decide,” Alina suddenly grew a smile. “I love you Dereck and I still want to be with you.”

Dereck made a gurgling sound. “Then it’s official. I am your boyfriend again.”

“Well then,” Alina edged closer. “Shall we seal our new relationship with a kiss?”

Dereck did just that, holding her close to him as their lips met, the passion between them igniting like a long-dormant flame. As the waves gently lapped at the shore and the moon cast its soft glow over the sand, they lost themselves in the tender embrace, rediscovering the love that had never truly faded.

As they pulled apart, Alina gazed deeply into Dereck's eyes, feeling the warmth and love he had just professed. Dereck, in turn, caressed her cheek and smiled warmly, knowing their connection was stronger than ever.

Hand in hand, they walked along the water's edge, the night enveloping them in its calming embrace. Dereck, familiar with the area, led Alina to a nearby secluded inn that he knew would offer them the privacy they desired.

Entering the quaint, charming room, they found themselves wrapped up in each other once more. Their kisses grew deeper and more passionate, their hands exploring each other's bodies as if for the first time.

Slowly, they began to undress one another, the dimly lit room casting shadows on their entwined forms. As their clothes fell away, they became more and more connected, their bodies pressed close together, seeking warmth and intimacy.

“I love you so much, Alina,” Dereck confessed again, smoothing back Alina’s hair.

Alina looked up at him. A tender smile spread across her lips as her heart hammered against her chest. “And I love you Dereck. Now and Always.” She then reached up and pulled him down so that she could savor his lips. Alina’s eyes closed as Dereck brought her closer to her climax.

Each thrust was a pledge of their love. Each wave of pleasure was a symbol of their renewed relationship.

Alina clung to Dereck’s back, knowing that she never had to let go.

As their lovemaking intensified, they moved in sync, their bodies joining together in a dance as old as time. The sounds of their breathy whispers of love and pleasure became a symphony of desire, each note echoing the depth of their connection.

In that moment, as their passion reached its peak, the world seemed to disappear, leaving only Alina and Dereck, their love rekindled and stronger than ever before.

Dereck held on to Alina’s hand as they went down the small steps that led to the deck at his family’s mansion, where they usually had breakfast and bickered with each other. Today was no exception. Dina was in a heated discussion with her parents when Alina and Dereck arrived and they stopped abruptly, turning their heads to look at the couple.

Staring into the bold eyes of the people Dereck cared about the most, Alina was less confident. She attempted to withdraw her hand but Dereck held onto it even tighter.

“Mom, Dad, Dina,” he began as they stopped in front of the table laden with breakfast favorites. “I would like to introduce you to my girlfriend, Alina.”

“Your girlfriend?” Dina shook her head and leaned back on the cushion of her seat, folding her arms.

Dereck held his sister’s gaze. “Yes, my girlfriend,” he said with some finality.

Dina stood upright then, tossing her napkin on the table. She spoke to Alina, “Welcome to the family,” Dina ground through her teeth. Then she turned to her parents. “If you will excuse me I have a lot of work to do,” and walked away without another word.

Dereck’s mother breathed out heavily, her shoulders hunched, but she said nothing. It was Dereck’s father who invited Alina to the table.

“So what is it you do for a living, dear?” Mr. Johnson asked, trying to cut the awkwardness around the table. He was unsuccessful.

Alina eyed the other woman at the table before she answered. “I’m an artist.”

“Alina has a big exhibition coming up,” Dereck said before placing a plate of food in front of his girlfriend and taking the seat next to her.

“Well, if I’m in New York around then, I’ll make time to stop by,” Mr. Johnson said and picked up his fork. Everyone else did the same and started eating.

“Alina,” the older woman finally broke the silence. On the outside Alina was calm, but inside she was screaming for joy. She probably would have skipped the celebration if she knew what the woman was about to ask her. “Are you willing to move to Connecticut?”
