The sound I make is stuck somewhere between the deepest groan and a ferocious snarl. “Harder!”

“Harder…” Leaning down, he takes one nipple into his mouth, rolling his glorious tongue around the taut bud. His teeth press down, biting, tugging, all of it hard, making heat lick at the base of my spine. “You like it rough, Miss Thompson, don’t you?”

I like it all, anything he gives me, and he gives me everything. But goddammit, right now I just wanna be fucked into this mattress to start my Friday off right. “I like you.”

“No. You love me.”

“I do.”

“And I love you. That’s why I want to meet your dad.”

My hips stop grinding. Avery’s movements halt, too. His eyes move around my face, trying to gauge my reaction.

“You’re serious.”

He nods.

“But I…” Aaron never wanted to come home with me. The only time he ever spent with my dad was when Dad came out to take us for dinner, and the time I dragged him to the hospital with me when Vivi was born.

I lift my gaze to meet Avery’s, warm and patient. My God, he’s always patient with me. “You really want to meet my dad?”

“I do, Claire.” He shifts back, rocking on his knees as he pulls me up with him, still inside me. I hiss at the sensation, the depth. “Maybe we could make this a family weekend.”

He lifts me and drops me, gently, and I rock on top of him. This is kind of a weird conversation to have while we’re doing this, but I’ll be damned if I’m going to stop. He feels too good.

“A family weekend?”

“Mhmm.” He drags his nose across my cheek before his lips meet mine, tongue delving in. “Will you come to my parents’ on Sunday for a barbecue?”

“On Sunday?”

“Sunday.”

“For a barbecue?”

He chuckles. “That’s what I said.” His fingers creep up my back, sliding into my hair. He tugs my head backwards, his hot mouth descending on my neck. “Please put me out of my misery. My mom’s called me every day this week.”

My laugh shakes me and Avery’s answering grin makes my stomach weak. I know his mom’s been on his back. I know because I’ve been sitting beside him during half of those calls. I know because he’s forwarded her texts to me. My personal favorite was: Your clock is ticking. You have seven days to introduce me to Claire or I’ll pick back up on the grandbaby conversation. And I’ll also slap you upside the head. Love you so much xoxoxo.

The woman clearly thought her son would never, ever settle down.

But I frown, remembering what’s happening this Sunday. And when I frown, Avery frowns. But he doesn’t just frown. His whole face drops, those big brown eyes…sad? His hands on me still their caress, and he starts leaning backwards, away from me.

“I have Vivi Sunday,” I clarify quickly, not wanting to give him the wrong idea. “I’m supposed to bring her back with me in the morning. Casey’s staying with my dad ’til Tuesday. They’re working on a project for a winery.”

Avery’s face lights up. “You have her ’til Tuesday?”

I nod.

“She can come. To my parents’ place, she can come. My mom will lose her mind, she’ll love her so much. They have a pool, so Vivi can swim. And dogs. Vivi loves dogs. And—”

I cut him off with my lips on his. I can’t help it. How much he loves Vivi is one of the things that makes me so crazy for him. “Okay, Avery.”

“Okay?”

“Okay. Of course okay. We’ll have a family weekend. But make sure your parents are okay with Vivi coming.”

He literally shoves me off him, pinning me to the mattress with his body as he climbs over me, pulling his phone from the charger on the table beside me. Five seconds later, he’s on the phone with his mom.
