Blake’s eyes twinkled at me. “I bet you don’t get a good laugh very often.”

That sobered me up a bit. “That’s not fair. He does make me laugh.”

“I’ll admit that he can be amusing. I saw the footage of the Friday press conference the two of you did. I had a good laugh myself. I still say he’s a clown, though.”

I considered him for a moment. “There are a few things about him that I really don’t like,” I said, leaning back in my armchair.

Blake stared at me intently. “Like what?”

“We went to this fancy dinner, you know the kind, and he used the wrong fork for his salad, and I was mortified. And he drinks too much, and it embarrasses me when I get phone calls in the middle of the night to come pick him up from wherever he is.”

He hummed in agreement. “It’s hard to teach someone social graces when they have never learned them. I told you he was that way. He’s a social pariah. I don’t know how you put up with him.” He was getting more animated now. “Back before your time, I used to have these huge lavish parties at my home in Monte Carlo. It was the place to be on race weekends, and anyone who was someone was there. I thought about inviting Flynn, I really did, but how could I have such a working-class loser at my parties? I didn’t want him to embarrass himself or me. Just easier not to invite any of those classless drivers without any breeding or manners, you know? Him, Webb, guys like that. I’m sure they found some low-brow entertainment to satisfy their needs.”

As he spoke, I didn’t flinch. I thought Blake was smarter and wouldn’t have fallen for my trap. I looked away from him and took a deep breath. “You know, Blake, Devin told me about those parties and how he felt about not being invited. It was a slap in the face. And I thought you were a good judge of character, but Devin knows exactly what you’re like,” I said, shaking my head. “Turns out you’re just as superficial as he thought. And maybe ever meaner.”

His eyes opened wide. “Oh, come on, Luna, you wouldn’t have invited him either.”

“Who do you think you’re talking to? Some spoiled influencer you met at the country club? I’ve been on the outside of most things my entire life. I’m more like Devin than I am like you. And that’s why I love him. He’s the real deal.”

“You feel sorry for him; you just haven’t realized that yet.”

Now I’d had enough. I was close to slapping him in the face, but he’d be driving with Perez in a few months. I had to maintain at least a little professionalism. “You should leave,” I said, standing and walking to the door.

“I think we should talk about this,” Blake said diplomatically.

“I think I’ve said all I have to say.”

“Come on, Luna …”

“No. This friendship? Or … courtship? Whatever you think you’re doing? It’s over.” I pointed at the door. “Get out.”

A darkness came over Blake, and it happened so fast. “You’re being stupid. He sure does have you brainwashed.”

I opened the door. “Actually, for the first time, I see things clearly.”

Blake walked to the door but stopped and turned to face me. He looked at me for a long moment, his eyes piercing through me. “One last thing. Do something for yourself and ask him who Paige is.”

“More games?” I asked bitterly.

“Just ask him. You deserve to know all about her.”

The moment Devin stepped into our hotel room in Germany the next morning, I attacked him. I grabbed him by the arm, threw him down onto the bed, and proceeded to remove his clothes.

“I have to meet Leo in an hour,” he said, laughing, as I tore open his shirt and showered his chest with kisses.

“Then we have enough time.”

I pulled off my Perez polo shirt, then unhooked my bra. Devin had his hands on my breasts, gently kneading each nipple as they formed into hard little peaks. I ground against his hardening cock before getting up to slip out of my jeans. I then slid off his boxers, the last of his clothes.

I wasn’t interested in foreplay, just sex. I needed him inside me. He seemed to get it, his hands flying to my hips as I straddled him again and lined up his now hard cock with my entrance. Slowly, I sank down on his shaft, feeding off the grunt he made as he filled me up. I needed this, and I’d been thinking about it all day.

“That feels so good,” he said. “I love how fucking tight you are.”

As I adjusted to him, I slowly picked up my pace, but I could see how frustrating it was for him, and before I could stop him, he flipped me over and was pounding into me.

“Harder,” I said breathlessly.
