I forced a small smile, bobbing my head. He wasn’t wrong. He helped me into the shower, rinsing off the grime from the dumpster. While I rinsed off, he started the bath. He didn’t even make me dry off before plucking me off my feet and settling me in the tub. He sat beside it, helping me wash my hair and body.
Once I was clean, I leaned my head against the side of the tub, watching him as he cleaned up a little. When he wouldn’t settle, I reached for him, catching his slacks when he moved to walk past me. He paused, taking a step back so that I could see him better.
“Would you… get in with me? I’m worried I’m going to fall asleep.”
It looked for a second like he might refuse. But eventually he took off all his clothes, laying them on the counter before climbing into the tub and settling himself behind me. He drew me against his chest, wrapping his arms around me, and let out a long breath.
“Are you okay?”
He buried his face against my neck, pressing a kiss there. “I thought I had lost you again. You must never leave my side. Do you understand?”
That didn’t sound like it would truly work out, given his line of work, but it warmed me that he wanted to keep me close. Leaning my head against his, I closed my eyes.
“Okay. I’ll stay with you forever.”

I woke up just as the sun crested over the horizon. The huge windows in the room meant I could see the sky turn shades of pink. I didn’t remember falling asleep, but I was right where I wanted to be, wrapped in Viktor’s arms, so I didn’t really question it. At least, not until I realized I had no clothes on.
Glancing down, I frowned. Neither of us did. I didn't remember us doing anything last night. I barely remembered taking a bath together. Was I so exhausted that I forgot meeting with our friends and having sex?
“What is wrong, ??????”
Shifting to see him better, I studied his face. He looked relaxed, his eyes soft and warm. He raised his eyebrows expectantly, and I shook my head.
“It’s nothing…”
If we did sleep together and I didn’t remember it, I would probably upset him by pointing it out. Men didn’t like to hear stuff like that. I looked away, willing my mind to wake up and remember the rest of last night, but all I got was a big fat nothing.
“You do not need to hide from me, ?????. If you are worried about something, I want to know.”
I swung my gaze back to him and bit my lip. I didn’t want to lie to him, but a small part of me was still afraid of making him angry and ending up in the same situation I’d escaped from. He waited patiently for me to work through my fear, running his fingers lightly through my hair.
“I… I’m sorry. I don’t… remember.”
His brow furrowed. “Remember what?”
Wincing, I glanced between us and back up. “What we did… last night.”
He looked confused, and my face flushed. He was really going to make me say it, wasn’t he?
“Th-The sex…”
His eyebrows flew up. “What are you talking about?”
It was my turn to frown, and I gestured anxiously towards the covers. “We’re both undressed, so I thought…”
He glanced down and back up before he barked out a laugh. “?????, we did not make love last night. You fell asleep in the bathtub and I did not have the heart to wake you to dress you properly. I love your body, but I would not take you while you were not awake to enjoy it.”
My cheeks flushed, and I covered my face with my hands. “Oh…”
His shoulders shook as he laughed, pulling me tighter against his chest. “You are sweet to be worried about my feelings, but I guarantee if we were together, you would not forget it. Or do I need to remind you of the other night?”
His voice turned heated and when I peeked at him through my fingers, he gave me a sexy smirk.
“I-I…” Going from embarrassed to turned on in two seconds flat was disconcerting, and I felt a little lightheaded. But thanks to his sweet refusal to wake me to put clothes on last night, I felt every inch of his body against mine. All the heat in my cheeks sank into my belly instead, and I bit my lip to hold back a moan.
“M-Maybe I need a reminder…”
