“Be right there,” Kieran said.

Cash and Patsy entered the kitchen, and he wanted more intel. “I don’t think we’re even,” Cash said. “Seems your favor is going to create an enormous headache for me.”

Scott laughed and slapped Cash on the back. “Better you than me.”

“I don’t know how I got mixed up in your family squabble,” Cash said with a head shake. “I have something I’d like to discuss if you’ve got a minute.”

Scott narrowed his eyes at Cash’s somber tone. “I’m listening.”

“I think we have a potential cult digging its claws into the community,” Cash told him.

The federal agent narrowed his eyes and gestured to Cash’s office. “You’ve got my attention.”

Mine too, damn it.Especially when Kieran caught Agent Scott checking out Cash’s ass.

Kieran knew he wouldn’t get anything else when the men disappeared down the hall, so he retrieved the barbecue sauce from the refrigerator and headed back to his celebration. Finley was waiting for him on the porch.

“Please tell me you know what the hell is going on,” he said.

“Just enough to make me dangerous.”

Finley covered his heart with both hands. “Rumor has it I have a thing for bad boys.”

Kieran chuckled and pulled him closer for a kiss. He repeated everything he’d heard and seen on their way back to the group.

“This day couldn’t get any sweeter,” Finley said, a serene smile tugging at his lips.

Kieran stopped and tugged on his hand so he would too. Finley halted and turned to face him. “Thank you.”

“For what?” Finley asked.

Where did he begin? He palmed the back of Finley’s neck and leaned forward until their foreheads touched. “Keeping your word and being the one who didn’t let me down. For always knowing when to give me a gentle nudge or retreat. The encouragement you give me whether it’s for enrolling in online vet tech classes or instructing me on how to fuck you.”

Finley arched his brow. “You calling me bossy?”

“I’m calling you perfect.” Kieran pressed a quick kiss to Finley’s lush mouth. “And I wasn’t done,” he admonished. Finley mimed zipping his lips. “Thank you for being the best friend and co-cat dad a man could ask for.” Though they’d wanted to hoard Little Mama and her kittens to themselves, Kieran’s cabin wasn’t big enough. The idea of giving the babies to strangers broke his heart, but luckily the crew members fell in love with them. The little darlings found homes with Rueben, Tyler, Owen, Ivan, and Cash. “And thank you most of all for loving me.”

Finley’s lips trembled. “Now look who’s being presumptuous.”

“And for teaching me how to love someone in return.” Kieran took a shaky breath. “I do love you, Fin. More than words could ever express.”

Finley’s eyes widened and his lips curved into a beautiful smile. “Oh, I was wrong. Now it’s officially the sweetest day. I love you too.”

They shared a long kiss as everyone under the tent cheered them on.

Kieran pressed his lips to Finley’s ear. “I believe.” Something he never thought he’d experience until Finley had taught Kieran that guys like him were worthy of love.
