“Stay here,” Avery insisted.

She didn’t want Sonny in the locker room. The women would be all over him. She got downright pissy at the thought of them trying to touch her man.

My man? No thanks.

Thankfully, Sonny waited, standing guard by the entrance. Avery said hi to some of the women as she walked by. She unlocked her unit, grabbed her jeans and leather jacket. She was dressed and out in four minutes flat.

Sonny rushed her out the door again until they reached Dante, who was waiting for them in the parking lot. Dante had that smiling, fucked out expression that Avery recognized. At least someone had fun tonight.

“Nice routine, Avery. Think you can put on a show for the guys at home on a weekly basis?” Dante teased.

Avery and Sonny both gave him the middle finger.

They got on their bikes and hightailed it outta there. Calm winds and a clear night made for easy riding, and they got back to Longford at just after one in the morning. The rest of the guys were still partying hard at the barn, their loud voices and the music going strong.

Avery slid off her bike, yanked off her wig and ran a hand through her hair. Then she faced Dante and Sonny.

“I know where the Death Riders keep their gun supply. A warehouse, 12 Slater Street, not far from their clubhouse in Canmore. Not only that, but Darren confirmed that they’re about to hone in on our territory. He said they have people working on it. I didn’t get any names, though, and then he passed out.”

“How the fuck did you get him to talk?”

She pulled the vial out of her pocket and held it up. “I don’t touch this shit that we cook up, but it’s useful sometimes.”

“You got massive balls, Avery,” Dante teased and winked at her. “I’m going to re-join the party. We’ll talk tomorrow.”

Dante walked off and left her alone with Sonny.

“I need to take a shower and wash those guys off me.”

“Did they touch you?” Sonny bit out.

“They were so stoned they could barely get it up,” she replied.

Sonny said nothing, just stood there, staring at her with those mesmerizing blue eyes.

“You didn’t answer my question,” he asked again as he stalked right up into her personal space. His body heat, his nearness, was doing strange things to her pulse. “Did they touch you?”

“Nothing happened, Sonny. And I’m sorry about earlier. When I kissed you. But Kiera saw us, and I didn’t want her to be suspicious.”

Sonny nodded but remained silent. His gaze landed on her lips and her breath caught. Suddenly they both moved closer to each other.

Until a shrill voice interrupted them.

“Sonny! Dante told us you were back. Come join us.”

Avery turned to see two randos walking their way. Dressed in tight leather skirts and crop tops, the women were looking at Sonny expectantly.

Avery quickly walked away, refusing to look back.

She knew Sonny, and she knew the life. There was no sense in getting worked up over a man like that. Despite whatever physical reaction they had to each other. She didn’t the headache.

She was doing just fine on her own.

SONNY

Sonny woke up the next morning with a hangover and a hard-on that wouldn’t quit.
