“Unless we have other cameras I don’t know about on the other side of the road.”

Jesse rubbed his chin. “Dare we ask Sage?”

“Who’s Sage?” Xander asked.

“She bought the farm across the road last month. Grows organic shit and raises llamas.”

“Is she hot?” Xander asked.

“Stop thinking with your cock,” Sonny snapped. “Jesse, go ask Dante to pay her a visit. We need to see if there’s any other security footage out there. For tonight, we’ll take the SUV. Dark clothes, no cuts. Get armed up and meet back here at 10 PM.”

“On it,” Jesse responded as he stood up and made for the door.

Xander leaned back in his chair, tracking Jesse’s departure until the door closed shut.

“Anything else you need me to do?” Xander asked.

“We want to bring this fucker back alive for interrogation. Use force to disable him but make sure he can still talk.”

“No problem. Do you think this is all the work of the Death Riders? The threat against Avery too?”

“Yup. But they picked the wrong club to fuck with.” Sonny stood up. “Tell Nate we need to add another camera to the gate area.”

“Will do.”

Sonny left the clubhouse and walked back to his cottage. After a much-needed shower, he threw himself down on his king-sized bed and passed out. The alarm on his phone chimed at 9 PM so he got up, made himself a cup of coffee, and ate a cold slice of old pizza. He changed clothes and got his weapons in order.

Back at the clubhouse an hour later, he, Jesse and Xander piled into the SUV and talked about their plan.

“The drop off is at 1 AM. We need to get there by 12 and scope it out. The instructions are to drop off the guns in a trash bin behind the warehouse. Jesse, since you’re about Ray’s size, I need you to do the unloading. I kept his old trucker hat and I know it reeks but wear it. There’ll be two envelopes at the bottom of the bin. One is for the rest of the payment, the other contains the address for another heist. They’re going to have direct eyes on us or are recording the transfer.”

“Do I head straight back to the SUV?”

“No. The instructions say to wait in the alley near the dumpster until they can retrieve and confirm the goods. They’ll text you when you can leave. Xander will be hidden nearby with his scope, and I’ll be closing in on our contact.”

Sonny handed the phone over to Jesse, as well as a tiny earpiece for each of them. After testing the listening devices, Sonny gave the okay.

“Everyone good?” Sonny asked as adrenaline began to pump through his veins.

There was nothing he loved better than the hunt. He couldn’t wait to get his hands on the fuckheads behind the theft of their property.

They would not die an easy death.

“Let’s roll.”

Xander drove them two hours west to Bragg Creek, a town not far from Canmore, where the Death Riders were based. With greener scenery, and dramatic mountains, the town was bigger than Longford but quiet enough. At midnight, most streets were deserted, the occasional long-haul or pickup truck rumbling by.

They drove around an abandoned industrial building – the drop off address - but it was silent. No cars, no people, no movement anywhere. They parked in a nearby green space, facing the bin, hidden by bushes.

They waited. And waited.

A half hour went by but still nothing and Sonny’s gut began to churn with dread. What if they didn’t show up?

“Listen,” Xander murmured as the faint echo of an engine got louder and louder.

A black pickup came into view and parked near the dumpster in the back. The passenger door opened.

“Here we go,” Sonny whispered as a lone figure walked over to the bin and dropped something in it, then walked back to the car and got in.
