“Ready or not,” she replied and smiled back at him.

They entered the kitchen to find members standing around the island and sitting at the various tables. Suddenly, the chatter of conversation stopped, and all eyes were turned on Avery and Sonny.

Here we go.

“Another one bites the dust and I called it!” Jackson yelled out. He removed his cowboy hat and walked around the room, holding the hat out to other members. “I won! Come on, pay up, folks.”

“You were betting on us?” Avery asked as Sonny gave Jackson the middle finger with his free hand.

“I knew as soon as you came back home, Avery. The constant bickering, the eye fucking. It was just a matter of time,” Jackson winked as members piled cash into his hat.

“Shut it,” Sonny snapped.

Jackson ignored him in favor of gloating. “No way. The ice man has finally thawed. How’d you do it, Avery? Or should I say, how many times did you do it?”

Laughter and whistles broke out in the crowded kitchen.

Until Gage stepped into the room, and everyone grew quiet again.

Gage pointed at them and spoke calmly. “Avery, Sonny, my office.” Then he walked out as quick as he came.

The trash talking resumed.

“Isn’t banging the boss’s daughter a member violation?”

Sonny turned around. “Watch your mouth.”

“Let them get it out of their system,” Avery murmured as she tugged Sonny down the hallway to her dad’s office.

They entered and sat down as Gage gave them both the evil eye.

“What are you two doing?”

“What do you think?” Sonny replied sharply.

“Avery ain’t no rando, Sonny. She’s a part of this club and my daughter to boot.”

“Sheis sitting right here and can talk for herself,” Avery interrupted. “Dad, Sonny and I are consenting adults. What’s the problem?”

“Are you kiddin’ me?” Gage asked as he ran a hand through his hair. “Where do I begin? Sonny is my lead enforcer. I know him and his track record with women. And what the fuck, Avery?”

“Has it been so long for you that you can’t recognize real chemistry?’ Avery asked as she rolled her eyes.

“You’re my daughter, for Christ’s sake. I don’t even want to think about this, let alone see you two…holding hands,” Gage grumbled.

Avery chuckled and looked at Sonny. He shook his head.

“There’s nothing to think about. Avery and I are together. Exclusively. Until we both agree otherwise. All right?” Sonny cocked his head.

“And what happens when it’s over? Have you thought about that?” Gage asked as he turned to Avery. “What happens when Sonny brings a rando or two to one of our parties? And you, what if Avery starts dating some other dude?”

Sonny’s death glare at the last question had Avery stifling a laugh.

“We get your point. If this runs its course, we’ll act like adults. Unlike the rest of the crew out there,” Avery murmured.

“You said it so I’m holding you to that promise.” Gage sighed and rubbed his temple. “Now, back to important things. Wyatt is awake and stable but still drugged up, so getting answers out of him right now isn’t happening. Go find Louisa Jones and do what needs to be done. Xander discovered she’s in a shitload of debt but she received a large cash loan recently. I bet we know who from. He’s still working on the laptop, he should know more in the next hour.”

Sonny scratched his jaw. “What about Tyra?”
