He’s really going to make me ask it, isn’t he? Asshole.

“Did we…” I start, my voice feeling raw from all the alcohol I had last night. “Umm… Did we have…”

“Fuck no.” That amusement is gone in a blink of an eye. “I don’t have the tendency to sleep with girls so drunk they don’t know their own name.”

Something about the way he says it makes my back stiffen as one word rings in my mind loud and clear.

No.

I hold onto it until blurry snippets from last night start appearing in my mind.

The party. Drinking. Dancing with Marcus. More drinking. Marcus said he’d take me home, but I refused him. Drinking and dancing with some guys.

After that, it’s all kind of hazy. But I remember the guys telling me we should take it somewhere private. And we did.

The image of the guy looming over me flashes in my mind. His hands were on my body, roaming and groping.

No.

A cold sweat washes over me. My throat bobs as I try to swallow the knot that’s formed, but it’s stuck.

A big, warm hand lands on my knee, making me jump in surprise. “Do you remember what happened last night?”

“A little,” I mutter. Turning my back to him, I slide my legs over the edge of the bed. I’m still wearing the shorts I had on last night. I get to my feet, the hoodie falling down, the soft material brushing against my naked breasts, the friction making my nipples harden.

“Jade…”

“What time is it?” I ask, glancing at him over my shoulder.

“Five thirty.”

That gets my attention. “In the morning? Why the hell would you get up that early? On the weekend too.”

“It’s Friday, hardly the weekend.”

I wave him off. “Close enough.”

Prescott crosses his arms over his naked torso. “How about I’ve got shit to do. Not all of us can party all night and sleep all day long, doll.”

My fingers clench into fists. “Fuck off. And stop calling me that.”

I look around until I spot my chucks on the floor.

“Is that a thank you for saving your ass last night?” he asks as I slip my shoes on.

“I don’t remember asking you to save me.” I glance around his room pointedly. “Or to bring me to your place, for that matter.”

“You think this was my first choice?” He snorts. “Don’t flatter yourself, doll. I couldn’t get you off my hands fast enough…”

“Then why am I still here?” I challenge.

“But your drunken ass had to pass out on me so I could either leave you out in the parking lot, take you to your brother’s, or bring you here,” he continues as if I didn’t say anything. “And I was in no mood to explain to your brother how you ended up in this situation in the first place.”

“Next time, don’t try to save me, so you won’t have that problem.” With one last glance at him, I turn on the balls of my feet and get out of his room. Or I would have if his fingers didn’t wrap around my wrist and pulled me back. A zap of electricity goes through my arm, all the way to the pit of my belly.

“Where do you think you’re going?”

“Home.” I look down at where his hand is connected to mine before raising my gaze. “Now, if you’ll excuse me…”
