Sullivan rolls his eyes before turning to look at Prescott. “What?”

“What the fuck do you think you’re doing with Cole’s little sister?”

Sullivan’s muscles tense at the accusation. He glares right back at him. “We’re just talking. Chill.”

“Not that it’s any of your business,” I mutter, letting my hand slowly make its way down Sullivan’s arm before pulling it away.

Prescott’s eyes follow my every move, his jaw clenching. The moment my hand falls from Sullivan’s, his head snaps up, his eyes narrowing even further.

Playing with fire? Maybe, but it’s so much fun to see the vein in Wentworth’s forehead tick.

“It is my business.”

I cross my arms over my chest, lifting my chin up. “Oh yeah? And how exactly is it your business?”

Wentworth grits his teeth, and the corner of my mouth tilts in amusement. It is so fun to rile him up.

“Hey, did you…” Nixon stops in his tracks when he sees me standing in front of Prescott. He looks from me to his teammates and back. “What’s going on here?”

Prescott tilts his head to the side, his brow rising as if to say, let’s see how you’ll get out of this mess.

Silly, silly boy.

“Just talking to the guys,” I smile at my brother. “I heard you’re having a boy’s night?”

“It’s notboy’snight.” Nixon frowns. “It’s team bonding.”

“Tomato, tomahto.” I wave him off, noticing more football players going toward the back. “I guess you should go. Team captain can’t be late.”

That crease between his brows deepens, his gaze shifting to the drink that the bartender just placed in front of me. “Do not think I don’t know what you’re trying to do.”

“And what would that be?” I grab it, taking a sip of the sweet drink. “Having a drink while I wait for my friend to arrive?”

Nixon just shakes his head and turns his attention to the bartender to place his order before looking at me once again. “We’ll talk about this later. C’mon, boys.”

Sullivan grabs his beer. “I’ll see you in class, Jade.”

“See you in class.”

Nixon pushes a silent Prescott toward the rest of his teammates. His eyes hold mine as he moves backward, that square jaw clenched tightly. Of course, he doesn’t have anything smart to say now.

“Don’t cause any trouble, Smalls.” He points at his eyes and then at me, which has me rolling my eyes.

“Yeah, yeah.” I take a sip of my drink as I watch them go toward the back. “Have fun at your boy’s night.”

Nixon looks over his shoulder. “It’s team bonding!”

“It better be goodbonding‘cause I expect you to win your first game,” I yell after him.

“Expect who to win?” I turn around to see a slightly winded and flushed Grace standing in front of me. “What did I miss?”

Once again, my eyes dart to the back of the room where the football players have occupied most of the space and drawn the attention of half of the people sitting in the bar.

“Nixon being Nixon.”

“Your brother’s here?” Grace looks around.

“These days, he’s everywhere I go.” Turning my back on them, I catch the eye of the bartender and wave him over. “So, where’s the lover boy? You left him to play with the guys?”
