“Seriously, Sully?” I grit, trying my best to keep my cool.

They turn to me, a flash of unease passing over his face until he realizes that it’s me, not Nixon, and then it changes to anger. Jade, on the other hand, just crosses her arms over her chest and gives me her death glare.

“What the hell, Wentworth?” Sullivan’s head snaps to me. “Where did you come from?”

That’s what he’s worried about? He’s even a bigger idiot than I thought.

“That’s not important. What’s important is, what the hell are you doing flirting with Cole’s little sister?” I cross my arms over my chest, my whole attention on my teammate.

“Are you shitting me?” Jade huffs.

“You stay out of this,” I growl, not bothering to look at her.

He runs his hand over his face. “We were just talking. Chill, dude.”

“Talking my ass.” I glare at him because we both know this is a load of bullshit. “Do you want me to call Cole? I’m sure he’d be more than happy to talk to you.”

Sullivan’s jaw clenches as he glares at me. “Screw you, Wentworth.” Then he turns to Jade. “I’ll see you in class.”

With that, he leaves. Freaking finally.

Jade marches to me and jabs her finger into my chest. Her lips are pressed tight, fire blazing in her blue irises. “What the hell’s wrong with you?”

“Wrong with me?” She can’t be serious, can she? “What’s wrong with you? I already told you. You should know better than to flirt with your brother’s teammates, doll.”

“Stop. Calling. Me. That. Asshole.” With each word, her finger probes at my chest.

“Stop poking me.” Irritated more than anything else, I wrap my fingers around her wrist and tug her toward the trees, away from prying eyes.

The moment we’re out of sight, she tugs her hand out of my grasp, those blazing eyes sending daggers my way. “I’ll stop poking you the moment you stop messing with my life. Who do you think you are? My prince charming?”

I let out a humorless chuckle, “I’m sorry to inform you, doll, but I’m no prince charming.”

“As if you’d ever be able to be one,” she snorts. “There’s not a drop of charm in your black heart to save your life.”

She starts to turn around, but I grab her hand once again and tug her back.

“I mean it, doll. Stop flirting with the football players. The team doesn’t need that shit right now.”

She lifts one brow. “Jealous, Wentworth?”

Jealous?

“You’re insane. Why would I be jealous?”

“Oh, I don’t know. You tell me.”

“You’re being ridiculous,” I shake my head. “Seriously, just stay away from the footba—”

“Football players. Yeah, yeah, I heard you.” Jade rolls her eyes at me. “Just tell me one more thing. Does that include you?

I blink, unsure if I heard her correctly. “What…”

She takes a step closer. “Because if I remember correctly, you had no issues going skinny dipping with me last spring.” She presses her finger against my chest, slowly lowering it down, tingles rising in the wake of her touch. “Or does that not count as flirting, so you think Nixon would be okay with it? Because let me tell you, he would not appreciate one of his best friends rubbing all over his…”

I grab her hand, stopping her from continuing further. “I know that.”

Fuck, I know that.
