“Not recently, but knowing him, he’s probably somewhere around here fucking around. You know how he is.”

“Yeah, I guess you’re right. Thanks.”

We hold our breaths until we finally hear them walk away. Slowly, I unwrap my fingers from around Jade’s wrists, pulling my hand out from under her skirt. I can still feel her slickness on my fingers and taste her on my tongue.

This is bad. So freaking bad.

Taking a step back, I clear my throat. “You should go back. He’s been looking for you.”

“Apparently, he’s been looking foryou, too.”

“Well, he was looking for youfirst,” I bite out. Does she really have to be this stubborn? “Just clean up and get out of here. I’ll stay here a while longer before walking to the other side. The last thing we need is for somebody to see us come from the same place and for word to get back to your brother.”

Jade runs her fingers through her hair, letting the wavy strands fall this way and that. “We wouldn’t want that to happen. After all, he’s well aware of your track record with girls.”

Before I can open my mouth, Jade turns on the balls of her feet and marches toward the party.

Letting out a frustrated breath, I lean against the nearest tree, running my hand over my face.

What the fuck just happened?

One moment we were fighting, and the next…

The image of Jade pressed against the tree flashes in my mind. The sounds she made when I slid my fingers inside her echoed in my eardrums.

I lift my hand, the one that was moments earlier buried inside her, to my face, inhaling her musky scent, and my dick springs to life once again.

Cursing silently, I drop my hand and readjust myself.

That woman is going to be the end of me.

What just happened was bad enough, but this shit can’t keep happening. If Nixon appearing out of nowhere and almost catching us wasn’t a sign, I don’t know what is. I almost fucked my best friend’s little sister against a freaking tree. If he found out… he would kill me. Plain and simple. And he would have every right to, too.

No, I have to steer clear of Jade-freaking-Cole. For both of our sakes. No matter how tempting she might be.

I’m not sure how long I stay in the woods. Long enough for my boner to go down, at least slightly, and that familiar ache to return to my knee. Sliding my hand inside my pocket, I pull out the bag and grab two pills, throwing them into my mouth before pushing away and finding my way back to the party.

Stopping by the drinks table, I make myself a drink, washing away the bitter taste in my mouth. I turn around, ready to find some of my teammates when my eyes fall on Nixon’s.

“Look who’s here!” He’s standing with a few guys from the team, his arm thrown over Yasmin’s shoulder. A wide grin on his face makes my stomach clench uncomfortably. The guilt is eating at me. “Where the hell were you? We were just looking for you.”

Well, if you found me, you’d have gotten an eyeful.

“Around,” I shrug, joining them. “What’s up?”

“We were just talking about the game, but you found a better way to celebrate,” he smirks, tipping his chin in my direction. “You still have something on your mouth, dude.”

I swipe my thumb over my lower lip. Looking down, I notice the dark red stain on the tip of my finger.Fucking hell.“Yeah, I guess you could say so,” I mutter, rubbing harder at my mouth.

“Where’s your friend? Don’t tell me you already ditched her?” Spencer throws his arm over my shoulders as he joins the conversation.

“You know Wentworth,” Robert, a senior kicker, chuckles. “He’s a one-and-done kind of deal.”

A movement over his shoulder catches my attention. I look up and see Jade’s eyes fixed on me across the distance. For a heartbeat, we just stare at one another, all the other things, all the other people, falling into the background.

But then Rei leans closer, telling her something. Jade’s the first to break eye contact.

My fingers clench around the cup in my hand as I bring it closer to my mouth, taking a sip of the vodka and letting it burn down my throat.
