A freaking mistake.

Granted, was it the best decision I’ve ever made? Far from it. But I didn’t think kissing him was a mistake. It felt too good, too right, too…

“What are you doing?”

I jump in surprise, my hand flying to cover my rapidly beating heart as I turn around to see Prescott leaning over the console, those brown eyes glaring at me through the open window of the passenger door.

“Will you stop doing this shit?”

“What?”

“Coming out of nowhere and scaring the fuck out of me? Like, seriously.”

He grits his teeth, the vein in his forehead throbbing. “Maybe if you paid more attention to your surroundings, I wouldn’t be able to surprise you.”

Maybe if you didn’t mess with my head, I would.I bite my tongue. “I’m paying enough attention to my surroundings. Thank you very much.”

Not in the mood to continue this discussion, I start walking, but before I can make five steps, the black Mustang is slowly rolling after me, an irritated growl coming from the inside of the car.

“Get in the car.”

I keep my gaze forward, refusing to engage with him and his asshole attitude. He can go and find somebody else to boss around because it ain’t gonna be me.

Does he get the memo?

Of course not.

“Get in the car, Jade,” he growls.

“Didn’t you say you have places to be?” I ask, ignoring his demand. “You better hurry up, wouldn’t want you to be late.”

“Get in the damn car, Jade.”

I turn around to glare at him. “Make me.”

CHAPTERFIFTEEN

PRESCOTT

Make me.

My cock stirs at the fire burning in those big, blue eyes. She raises one brow, daring me to do it. Daring me to get my ass out of the car and make good on my threat.

My fingers curl around the steering wheel as I try to calm my rapid breathing and racing heart.

Make me.

Her words echo in the space between us as we just stare at one another for what feels like forever.

The corner of her mouth lifts. “Thought so.”

With a flip of her hair over her shoulder, she sashays away without a backward glance.

Make me.

Not giving myself time to think, I put my car in park and push the door open with more force than necessary, my focus solely on Jade. Ignoring the jab in my knee, I run after her. My fingers curl around her wrist, pulling her toward me. Her body crashes into mine, all those lush curves pressing against me as I tug her closer.

“It was your choice, doll,” I whisper, leaning down, so my lips brush against the shell of her ear. I inhale her sweet scent—lavender mixed with sun and grass from hours spent out on the field.
