“Whiskey?” he turns to me and winks. “I’ve got the good stuff, too.”

“Oh, I’ll take that. And get one for Pens, too. Grace?”

“I’ll have a beer.”

Spencer nods. “Coming right up.”

“I really don’t think that’s wis—”

“It’s one drink, Penny.”

He looks over his shoulder, his eyes narrowing on her. “Why is that name familiar?”

“I’m Kate’s sister. I think we met briefly last year?”

“Oh, right!”

Spencer hands Grace a beer and puts two shot glasses in front of us on the counter, filling them with amber liquid.

“Why are you giving away my whiskey, Monroe?”

The hair at the back of my neck rises to attention at the sound of Prescott’s low and gravelly voice.

“I’m making our guests feel welcome. Chill.”

“Not with my whiskey.”

“Didn’t you know, Spencer?” I pick up my glass and slowly turn around to face Prescott. “He doesn’t like to share.”

Prescott’s eyes narrow on my mouth as I bring the glass to my lips and down the drink in one go before grabbing the bottle to refill it.

“What are you doing here?”

The corner of my mouth curls up. “Spencer invited us.”

Prescott crosses his arms over his chest. “Did he now?”

“Mhmm…” I take a sip from my drink. “It’s good stuff. I can see why you’d like to keep it to yourself.”

“If I’m getting drunk, I might as well get drunk on good booze.”

Before I can answer, a girl barges into our group and tugs at Spencer’s hand. “Spencer! The girls wanna play Never have I ever. You game?”

Spencer’s eyes light up. “I’ve got you one better, Sugar.”

I glance at Grace, who just rolls her eyes at the absurdity of it, but Spencer catches her.

“What’d you say, Red? You game?”

“You didn’t even say what we’re playing.”

Spencer wiggles his brows and grabs the whiskey off the counter. “You’ll have to come and see.”

I grab Penny’s drink and hand it to her. “C’mon, Pens. Drink up, and let’s see what Spencer’s up to.”

She tentatively sniffs the cup. “I don’t think I’ll like that. You drink it.”

“Fine.” Letting out a sigh, I down her drink, too, the warmth spreading through my belly. “Let’s go.”
