I don’t manage to answer because another coughing fit hits me. Then suddenly, his hand lands on my shoulder, startling me. I take a step back, my hand—the one holding my drink—jolting forward and connecting with his chest.

“What the actual fuck, dude?” the guy shrieks loudly.

“I-I’m s-so s-sorry,” I sputter through the coughing fit. “I didn’t—”

I extend my hand to reach for him and try and figure out the extent of the damage I’ve done, but the guy retreats back like I’ve burned him.

“I’m out of here,” he says as he walks away, muttering something under his breath.

A part of me feels relieved that he left. I didn’t even have it in me to be annoyed that, once again, I failed at the flirting part. I didn’t even want to flirt with the guy.

“Are you okay?” Jade asks suddenly, her voice coming out breathy like she ran here.

“I’m fine. The guy on the other hand…”

“What happened?” Grace asks. “We just saw the guy suddenly storm off.”

I tell them what happened, and at first, they’re both quiet, but then Jade bursts into laughter.

“Jade!” Grace chastises, but I join her.

“Let her. She’s right. It is funny. Like seriously, talk about a blind-girl moment.”

“That’s an awful thing to say,” Grace says, but I can hear that she’s also slowly cracking up.

“The number of stories like this that I could tell you.”

Yes, I’m very independent, but that comes with a price of occasionally getting myself into completely blind-girl situations like the one just now.

“But seriously, forget the guy. There are enough fish in the sea. Maybe you just need another drink to help you relax.”

I wasn’t really sure another drink would help matters. Quite the contrary. Alcohol only makes me do more crazy shit.

“I just don’t think I’m made for flirting.”

“Everybody is made for flirting.” Jade links her hand in mine. “Some are better with flirting with strangers, while others need to feel comfortable with the other person to relax.”

I remember the feel of Sebastian’s long fingers wrapping around me. The touch of his warm breath tickling my skin,my lips, as he leaned in…

Why do you still think about him? It’s not like he’s thinking of you.

Not that I expected him to, but he was the one who initiated the first message. The one who kept on texting. Until he didn’t.

Was he angry that I couldn’t make it? It was one time, after all, and it wasn’t like it was my studio time either.

“You know what I wanna do?” I ask suddenly, done with overthinking about a certain somebody.

“This sounds promising,” Jade chuckles. “Spill it.”

“I want to play beer pong.”

“Beer pong?”

“Yes, I’ve never played beer pong. So why not try it?”

It was on my list, not that they knew about it. But if I was capable of throwing axes, I was pretty sure I could throw a ball into a cup.

“You said you thought alcohol would help,” I remind Jade. “Although, do people only play it with beer? Because that stuff stinks.”
