“Sure thing.”

I untie the ribbons, loosen them, and hand the dress to Seraphina before opening my robe and placing it on the chair I was sitting in earlier.

She crouches down, and I step into the dress, sliding it over my legs.

“No bra for this one.”

No, there was no way I’d be able to hide it underneath. Turning my back to her, I unhook my bra and let it fall on the chair before pulling the dress the rest of the way. Seraphina’s hands touch my naked back as she expertly tightens the laces.

“All done. And damn, girl, you look hot.”

“Thanks.”

“You ready to go?”

“In a little bit.”

“Okay, I’ll go down and check in on Sebastian,” Seraphina says, her heelsclickingagainst the hardwood floor when she walks away.

I go to the bed, where Henry’s been lying since we got here. I’ve barely managed to get them to give me a few minutes to let him out between doing my hair and makeup, but I was not budging on it.

“I wish you could go with me,” I whisper as I rub Henry’s head, making sure to scratch him behind his ears. He nuzzles his head into my hand, letting out soft growly noises when he’s in pup heaven. Which is anytime I scratch him, really.

A soft chuckle escapes me when he gives me a soft lick, the knot in my stomach loosens a little bit. “I’m going to miss you, but where I’m going is not a place for puppies, Henry.”

Rationally, I knew I could probably take him, but I didn’t want to draw any more unwanted glances on myself than I had to. Not that I thought people would pay attention to me in the middle of the AMAs. I’m insignificant in comparison to celebrities. But Sebastian isn’t, and he wants me there with him, standing by his side.

And now that knot is back, tighter than ever.

Shit.

Leaning down, I press a soft kiss on top of Henry’s head. “Be a good boy.” I lift a finger and gently touch his snout. “I mean it, Henry. No destroying anything, or we’ll have a few choice words when I get back home.”

Henry lets out a soft whine.

“I know. I wish I could stay here too.” Where it’s safe. Away from the prying eyes that’ll dissect every single thing about me. Eyes that’ll judge me. Judge the way I look. Judge the way I act. Judge who I am.

At this point, I wasn’t sure if blindness was a blessing or a curse.

“I’ll see you soon, Henry,” I whisper, and with one last pat, I grab the bag and the white cane from the bed before leaving the room.

My palms feel clammy as I hold onto the cane, assuring I don’t bump into something on my way as I navigate this unfamiliar space. I can feel the beginning of the staircase with my cane, so I reach for the railing, my heart hammering a mile a minute.

This was it.

There was no going back now.

Not that I would do that to Sebastian.

No, I was planning to stay by his side.

So I take the first step.

SEBASTIAN

“Where the hell is she?” I ask, my gaze darting toward the living room doorway.
