Seraphina laughs, “Highly unlikely, but okay.”

“You’ll have to go out with me.”

“I… W-What?”

“You heard me. You will go out with me.”

“Are you mental?” Seraphina all but yells. “Why would you want that?”

I lean closer to Sebastian. “Do you think she’ll have a heart attack?”

“With Walker so close? Anything is possible.”

“Take it or leave it,” Jagger says, a trace of challenge in his voice. “Which one will it be?”

Silence stretches between them, and I’m holding my breath, waiting to hear Seraphina’s answer.

“Fine. You’ve got yourself a deal.”

“And we have two witnesses. In case you decide to go back on the bet.”

“I don’t go back on my bets, thank you very much. Now if you’ll excuse me, my friends are waiting for me. I’ll see you later, Bash, Penny.”

“What about me?”

“If it were up to me, you would rot in hell, Jagger.”

The man bursts into laughter, not in the least bit fazed by her comment.

“Only in your dreams, baby.”

“Don’t call me that!” Seraphina yells loudly.

I lay my head on Sebastian’s shoulder, trying to stifle my own laughter. “Well, that was interesting.”

“Those two are always like that.”

“Why’s that?”

“To be completely honest, I have no idea. They’ve been bickering with each other since the first moment they met.”

“Hmm…”

The whole interaction kind of reminded me of how Jade and Prescott were before they got together. Always at each other’s throats, refusing to admit they like each other.

Before I can say anything, the noises around us die down, and the show begins.

After the performance of a current trending artist, each individual category is announced, and the winner is called up on stage to give a short speech. All the while, Sebastian is holding onto my hand, his thumb tracing patterns over the back of my knuckles.

When the first rock category is called, I bite the inside of my cheek, my fingers tightening around Sebastian’s. He, on the other hand, seems to be completely calm as they announce the Favorite Rock Album of the Year.

People cheer around us, but I lean closer, my lips brushing against his cheek. “I’m sorry.”

“It’s fine. In all honesty, I didn’t expect to win anything.”

“How can you not? That last album was amazing. You deserved it.”

Sebastian lets out a soft chuckle. “Since when are you giving me compliments, Miss-I’m-Not-Your-Fan?”
