“That’s amazing. Thank you so much. He’ll really appreciate it.” She says goodbye to the person on the other side of the line as she joins me once again.

“What’s going on?”

“That guy from the other night?”

My shoulders stiffen as I remember the interaction from the award show, and the fan that attacked Sebastian. “Yes. What’s going on with him?”

“That was the police calling. They went to his house and found that he’s been stalking Sebastian both online and in real life since you all got here, and guess what kind of car he drives?”

“What?”

“A black truck! They’re keeping him in the police station until they get to the bottom of it, but based on everything, I think it’s safe to say that they caught the guy.”

The pressure that I hadn’t even realized has been weighing on me finally disappears. “So it’s done?” I ask, letting out a shaky breath.

“It’s done. They caught him.”

They caught him.

“Shit, we really need to get going if we don’t want to be late. Sebastian said he’d like to see you before the show. You can give him the good news.”

“Tonight.” I’ll tell him tonight. “After the show. He doesn’t need more things on his mind right now.”

Backstage just before the show? It’s utter mayhem.

People are running left and right, yelling loudly as they work on giving the fans the best show possible. Somebody is already out on the stage, the music so loud it’s deafening even here.

As I’m turning the corner, somebody bumps into me, grazing my side. The man curses quietly, and I can feel him sway.

“I’m so sorry.” I reach for him to help steady him, the smell of alcohol and sweat hitting me in the face. “Are you okay?”

The man retreats from my touch and mutters a curt ‘fine’ before going on his way.

“Hey, you good?” Brianna yells loudly so she can be heard over the noise.

“Yeah, just bumped into somebody.”

“It’s crazy busy. Try to stick to the side if you can. We’re almost there.”

Tightening my hold on my cane, I try to walk as close to the wall as I am able so I don’t get in anybody’s way, which is easier said than done.

“I thought you’d never come!” Sebastian says softly, and before I know it, his strong arms wrap around me, pulling me into his chest. “Fuck, I missed you.”

“Why are you naked?” I ask, trying to hold in my laughter.

“I’m not naked. I have a vest.”

I jab his very naked, very warm chest. “This feels naked to me.”

“Jealous, Birdy?”

“As if,” I scoff. “Those people already saw more of you than I’ll ever see.”

He buries his head in the crook of my neck, his scruffy cheek scratching my skin.

“Sebastian!” I protest, but he doesn’t let go.
