Sebastian snapped a photo of us here in my apartment and posted it on his profile. He thanked his fans for all the support and well wishes he’s been getting, along with the update that he andI—his girlfriend—are recuperating and should be back to normal soon.

Turns out, I didn’t know anything. Because the post blew up in a matter of hours, and if I thought I had a lot of new followers and comments before, I didn’t know anything. The whole thing was so overwhelming that I gave Jade full access to my profile since she edited the videos, after all.

“Yesterday, I posted that video of you helping in the shelter, and I kid you not, people went crazy over it.”

I roll my eyes at her. “That’s because Sebastian was there.”

Who could blame them, either? A man playing with puppies? I couldn’t even see him, and my hormones were all over the place.

Jade bursts into laughter. “There is that, I guess. Give any normal guy a puppy or a kid, and girls will melt. Give a hot guy a puppy or a kid? And they become ten times hotter.”

I nudge her with my elbow. “You should take your own boyfriend to the shelter and get a puppy.”

“I wish. Things are just crazy right now. Besides, it’s nice to be able to focus on us for a change. What I want to know is how things are going with the bad boy?”

“Good. He’s been going to PT and seems to be doing better.”

“That’s nice, although I was referring more to the fact that half his place seemed to be moved into your apartment the last time we were here.”

She had me there.

Ever since we got back from L.A., we haven’t spent one day apart, and slowly but steadily, more and more of his things appeared in my apartment. Neither of us said anything about it out loud, and I was fine with it. I just enjoyed spending time with him and feeling his arms wrapped around me as I fell asleep.

“We’re still figuring it out,” I offer weakly.

“Mhmm… figuring it out.”

“Who’s figuring out what?” Prescott asks, joining the conversation.

“Nobody,” I say quickly, turning to my right only to be greeted by the scent of pine and sandalwood seconds before a hand reaches for mine, those calloused fingers rubbing at my gloveless hand that seems to have grown numb from the cold.

“You should really wear gloves,” Sebastian admonishes. His other hand clasps around mine, lifting it and blowing warm air onto my skin.

“I’m already blind. I won’t intentionally cut off another one of my senses if I have a choice.”

“But what if you get frostbite and your fingers fall off?”

“As if. I’m not outsidethatlong. You guys done?”

“Yeah, the meeting wrapped up a little while ago.”

Since we got back, Sebastian has been more frequent at the NA meetings, and lately, he and Prescott have been hanging out more often together. I was happy that he had somebody to talk to that understood him on a level I couldn’t. So far, he seemed to be doing okay, which is the only thing I wanted for him.

“C’mon, let’s get you in the car.”

I don’t even try to protest as Sebastian gives me directions to where he parked his brand-new SUV.

“When are you guys leaving?” Jade asks as we all get in the car.

“Tomorrow morning. Which reminds me, I should probably finish packing tonight. With all the mid-terms, I’ve barely had a break.”

“You could have come with us.”

“I know, but I’m missing my family, and I don’t think Kate has forgiven me for what happened just yet.”

“Getting in her good graces, I see.”

We chat about our Thanksgiving plans on the short drive back to our building, where we say our goodbyes.
