It said she’d read it, but no response.

I wondered if I should put areservedsign on this spanking bench. It seemed like I’d need it.

I moved to my contacts and scrolled to her name, ready to call her, when an incoming call lit up the screen.

Seth.

I swiped to answer.“Hey, Seth. You in town? What time are you headed over here?”

Seth’s booming voice came through the phone. “I’m in the car on the way there right now. You at Blackstone?”

I grinned, even though he couldn’t see me. “Where else would I be?”

Seth laughed. “Fair enough. I’ll be there in about 15 if that works for you.”

“Sure thing, Boss.”

Seth arrived exactly 14 minutes later. A good Dom was always true to his word, and Seth was a great Dom.

I opened the front door for him and we wandered into the bar area, each of us grabbing a Jameson before sitting down.

I leaned back in my chair and took a sip of the whiskey, loving the burn as I swallowed. “So, what brings you into town, man? Checking up on me?”

Seth laughed. “You could run this place without me. You have been, for a while now.” He took a sip. The ice clinked in his glass. “But I have some news. Good news, I think. The club in Austin is doing well. Really well, in fact. There’s a guy down there that’s going to run it for me. I’m ready to come back to Denver.”

“That’s great, man! We’ve missed you here. It’ll be great to have you back.” It was great. Seth might have been my boss, but he was also one of my closest friends. It would be nice to have him back in town.

Seth nodded. “Here’s the thing, though. I want to come back and manage Blackstone. I’d like to live here. Would that be a problem for you?”

Ah, there was the reason for him wanting to meet, rather than just announcing it. There was a time I’d have been upset by it. My whole life was Blackstone. I lived and breathed it, literally. But the events of the last week had me reconsidering some things in my life.

“Actually, just the past few days, I’ve been thinking about talking to you about the same thing, believe it or not. I’m thinking it might be time for me to settle down, get a house, the whole nine yards. For real this time.”

A smile spread across Seth’s face. “Drew, that’s awesome! I’m happy for you, although I’m going to need details if there’s a woman that’s prompting this change of heart. You still going to stay on as the lead trainer?”

I shook my head slowly. “I’m not sure yet. Sort of depends on how a few…things work out, to be honest. I’ll let you know. I think Cody Armstrong would be a great trainer if I decide to step back. He’s been helping with training and with the singles nights, so he’d be able to pick it up pretty easily. The subs love him.”

Seth clapped me on the back. “I hope this all works out well for you, man. You deserve it.”

I hoped so, too.

Blackstone opened its doors at 7pm on Fridays, although no one ever showed until 8.

By 9, Emma still hadn’t arrived.

I was getting restless. I walked out to the front lobby again to check with Luke, who was manning the desk tonight. “Any calls?”

Luke shook his head. “No calls tonight. I think everyone who signed up for Singles Night is here, though. You can probably get started. I sent the last new one in about 15 minutes ago, so everyone should have been oriented to the club by now.”

Running Singles Night was the last thing on my mind right now. I turned back the way I’d come and stalked into the main play area without responding to Luke.

I looked around. There were groups of subs sitting on couches, most looking terrified. The Doms sitting at the tables and at the bar looked ready to get started for the night. Their eyes followed me as I walked directly to a group of Doms sitting in a cluster around a table.

“Logan. Bar.” I jerked my thumb toward the bar.

Logan raised his head at the sound of his name.

I didn’t look back to see if he followed me, but once I reached the bar, Logan was on my heels.
