I let out a groan as the line of fire shot straight to my core. “The first, Sir. The first time.”

The belt landed twice more. “Where were you supposed to be tonight?”

“Here, Sir.” My arousal was dripping down my inner thigh. My ass was on fire. And all I wanted was more.

“Correct.”

The next lashes hit my upper thighs, and I gasped at the bite of pain. It dissolved quickly into a pleasant burn, and I moaned, low and long.

“And where were you when the club opened tonight?” Drew brought the belt down, again and again and again.

I gasped out the words. “At home, Sir.”

“And why was that?”

There it was. The question I couldn’t answer. I shook my head as tears filled my eyes.

The belt landed again, and again, with more force. I leaned into the deep burn, needing the cleansing pain.

“Why didn’t you come to the club tonight?”

Tears streamed down my cheeks, making them stick to the leather of the cross. I shook my head again, unable to get the words out.

There was a clatter as Drew dropped the belt to the floor. He ran his hands over my ass, grazing the welts that were rising there. He squeezed both cheeks, making me hiss in pain.

“Do you need a safe word, kitten?”

No. No, no, no. It was the opposite of what I needed.

Drew waited, silently.

Finally, I choked the words out. “No, Sir. No safe word. Keep going. Please.”

“Wewillcontinueuntilyou talk, or until you use your safe word.” The disappointment in his voice made another round of tears well up.

Out of the corner of my eye, I watched as Drew pulled something out of the closet.

He held it up. “This is called a dragon tail, baby. It’s like a single tail, but heavier.” He ran it over my ass. It was still tingling and warm from the belt, but I needed more. So much more.

“Please, Sir. Please,” I whispered.

The tail landed across my raw bottom with a wicked sting.Fuck. I’d never felt anything like it. The second time it landed, I let out a shriek. With the third, I broke into sobs.

“Talk, baby. Tell me why you weren’t here tonight. Something is bothering you. We’re going to fix this.” With each word, the dragon tail landed another strike, driving me further into that space. “Talk to me, baby.” Nothing existed right now. Nothing but me, Drew, and the white hot pain.

The dragon tail landed another sharp blow on my thighs, and I broke. “I can’t do this to you! I can’t choose between you and my career! It’s not fair to you! I can’t give you up!” Sobs broke free as the tears ran down my face.

Drew stopped. “What, baby?”

I kept babbling. I couldn’t stop. “I got—manager—Portland—can’t—your ex—” I got out as many words as I could before I resigned myself to sobbing against the cross.

Drew released my cuffs from the restraints. My arms fell limply at my sides. Drew gathered me into his arms as my knees gave way. “Shh, baby, it’s okay. It’s okay. We’re going to make this okay. I’ve got you.”

He held me against his chest as he carried me to the bed and laid me gently on the soft mattress. He draped a fuzzy blanket over me while I trembled. The mattress dipped under his weight as he positioned himself behind me, my back to his front, and pulled me against him.
