Every time she thought she couldn’t fall more for the man, he surprised her and made her fall in love with him all over again.

“That would be very kind and sweet of you.”

“So, I have your blessing?”

“You do.”

She reached her hand out to him and weaved her fingers again while looking back out the window. When she took the last sip of her wine Silas got up and refilled it. Instead of sitting back down on his chair, he picked her up and sat down with her in his lap. Rayen needed to be close to her too, settling on the floor before the chair.

With Amon’s hand in hers, she enjoyed this flight much more than the last and was even a little sad when it ended. From the small airport, Amon drove them to a harbor where they boarded a motorboat and set off into the ocean. About an hour later a little island came into view.

With a slightly guilty expression Rayen admitted, “The whole island is ours.”

She slightly choked on the breath she took in. “The whole island belongs to you?”

“We didn’t want to tell you until now because we were afraid you wouldn’t come if you knew. We’ve owned it for quite some time now, but have barely spent time on it.”

“We didn’t lie,” Silas quickly added. “You never asked where exactly the house is.”

“I’m not upset, just shocked. Though I should’ve suspected it.”

The boat stopped by a small dock that led right over the beach to a gorgeous house. Just like the house in L.A. it had floor-to-ceiling glass windows all over. Behind the house were trees for shade, and in-between them hammocks and sitting arrangements with a fireplace and grill. Amon spoke to the man who’d brought them here before handing him some money and sending him off again. Walking next to her, Rayen carried the suitcases while Silas held the urn.

“No need to worry about the windows,” Rayen chuckled, and she remembered their conversation in the L.A. home. “We have people who take care of the property.”

“The fridge is stocked with food and the A.C. has been on since yesterday so it’s nice and cool inside,” Silas added.

“I’m not sure if I’ll be spending much time inside.”

Amon stepped behind her and laid his hand on her lower back. “There is a fireplace in the living room overlooking the ocean. Maybe we can keep the urn there unless you would like to spread her ashes somewhere on the island.”

“I like the idea of the living room.”

Silas sprinted ahead and when she stepped inside, the urn was already up on the fireplace. The way the three of them were treating her took her breath away, making her feel all cozy and warm. She thought she would have to explain herself to them but there was no such thing. They accepted her and granted her all she needed and everything she wished for without hesitation or judgment.

“There are only three bedrooms so whatever one you choose is yours,” Rayen explained.

“The one with the biggest bed, so we can cuddle at night.”

Rayen nudged her towards a hallway. “The master it is. The double doors to the end.”

The house was beautiful with lots of sunlight flooding it and bright, natural colors all over.

After freshening up in the master, she walked through the empty house onto the porch. The beach was gorgeous. Not even the beach in L.A. was able to hold up to this beautiful view. The sand felt soft beneath her soles and tickled between her toes. She was so used to the cold Galveston water that she was pleasantly surprised by the warm ocean washing around her ankles as she stepped into the shallow water.

She closed her eyes and took in a deep breath. The late afternoon sun shining down on her felt good on her cheeks and the swooshing sound of the water was calming. This was exactly what she and Evangeline had been dreaming of. The picture Amon painted for her appeared before her closed eyes and only then did she realize he’d painted this beach. For a split second, she could feel Evangeline’s arm around her waist and her lips pressing a kiss to her cheek.

She opened her eyes and turned her head to see Rayen, Silas, and Amon standing by the glass doors. She smiled at them, inviting them to come stand with her. Silas was the fastest, racing to her in his lightning speed. He stood behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist. As soon as Amon and Rayen stood to each of her sides she took their hands and weaved their fingers together. Leaning into Silas, she took another deep breath in an attempt to find the right words.

“I want you to turn me.”

Silas hummed and kissed her neck while Rayen’s eyes started beaming. Amon on the other hand seemed to be hesitant. He lifted her hand to his lips and pressed a kiss to the back of it.

“Are you sure, Gwendoline?”

“Yes.” She swallowed, trying to fight the tears that crept up to her. “You three are all the family I have now. I don’t want to live without you, nor do I want to grow old knowing that I only have mere years left with you when I could have eternity. I can’t shake the feeling that Evangeline held on all these years until she knew I was in good hands. She knows I’m happy, and in a good place. It feels as if she stepped back so I could move on.”

Silas hugged her a little tighter, confirming that she wasn’t the only one who had thought of this. Rayen soothingly ran his thumb over her hand while Amon kissed her once more.
