“Is there anything else I can do for you?” She quickly looked at each of them to see if they had anything for her.

“You’re already leaving?” Rayen asked, and she could’ve sworn he was being playfully disappointed. His loose and seemingly open character caught her completely off guard.

Her cheeks felt hot. “Yes, I was going to head to the office.”

He turned to Mr. Seavey. “So that’s what your mornings consist of now?” Mr. Seavey gave him a cold look, so Rayen turned back to her. “I have to apologize for Amon’s behavior. He often doesn’t see the necessity of exchanging more than a sentence with anyone.”

A little shy, she looked at Amon, who’s face had slightly darkened. “He’s a very busy man.”

“You seem very forgiving.”

Not sure what she should say, she looked down at her papers. “Well, if there is anything I can do for any of you just let me know.” She walked out, wanting to hide her feelings from them.

On her drive to the office, she couldn’t help but think of the three of them. She was relieved, at least Rayen turned out to be nice. Silas seemed just like Mr. Seavey, maybe even a little colder. He’d stared at her the whole time, not once taking his gaze off her. It hadn’t made her uncomfortable, but she wasn’t sure what to think. All three were extremely handsome but that was all they had in common. She wondered if they were half brothers or maybe even adopted.

Mr. Seavey didn’t show up in the office that day and didn’t message her either. She continued attending the meetings, returned and answered phone calls, and tried her best to get the three brothers out of her head. It didn’t work very well. Their gorgeous faces kept popping up in her mind, with their eyes fixed on her. She wasn't sure if she liked where her thoughts were heading, she didn't need a crush on one of her bosses, let alone all three.

Around lunch time Claudia came in asking for her car key, wanting to take it for an oil change.

“Do you mind if I take it now? Or do you need it for your lunch break?”

“I don’t need it, feel free to take it.”

She smiled and took the key out of Gwen’s hand. “I’ll have it back before you leave.”

“If you tell me where to take it, I don’t mind doing it myself.”

Claudia smiled amused. “Mr. Seavey made it clear for me to take care of such things.”

She turned to leave but Gwen quickly got out the question that had burned with her for quite some time. “Does he scare you too?”

Claudia looked up and down the hallway, and giggled as she closed the door. “I was hoping I wasn’t the only one.”

Gwen sighed in relief. “I thought I was the only one. I never know if I’m doing things right or not.”

Claudia sat down across from Gwen. “I don't think he praises anyone, but if you do something wrong, he’s the first to tell you.”

“He barely says anything anyway, just looks at me with those cold eyes.”

They both giggled shyly. “Well, you somehow impressed him because he chose you for the job.”

“I still don’t know how though. The whole interview went horribly. He even said he hated wasting his time and my resume wasn’t reflecting what he was looking for.”

“How did you convince him?” she asked curiously.

“That’s the thing, I didn’t. He looked at my resume and told me that I wasn’t what he was looking for and said: ‘Thank you for coming, Ms. Moore.’” She said the last part in a bored cold voice.

Claudia started laughing. “Well, you must’ve said something, otherwise you wouldn’t be sitting here. But I’m glad I’m not the only one scared of him.”

“Oh you’re not. I’m terrified.”

Claudia got up and smiled down at her. “Well, I’m glad he chose you; you don’t seem as stuck up as everyone else here.”

Before Gwen could say anything in return, Claudia left, leaving her with a warm feeling. It hadn’t been a long talk, but it had made her day, making her feel welcomed in a way Mr. Seavey didn’t.

After the last meeting, Gwen returned to her office where she found her car key on the desk. She quickly packed her things and walked out the office ready to go home and have dinner.

Walking past the front desk she waved at Claudia. “See you tomorrow.”
