“I’m Mayhem. We’ve heard a lot about you, Evie. Our Psycho hasn’t stopped talking about you.”

Louis tenses beside me, but I take Mayhem’s introduction for the light-hearted humour that it is.

“Is that right?”

Mayhem winks, and Louis wraps a protective arm around me, pulling me close.

“I never thought I’d see the day. Hot damn, she’s real!”

Over my shoulder, the biggest guy I’ve ever seen fills the doorway, but he’s not scary. He has the biggest grin on his face, and I instantly feel drawn to him. In a friendly way, of course.

Thomas looks up at Louis, his eyes wide with excitement. “Can I see all the motorbikes?”

“Sure.” He looks over his shoulder and calls over a prospect.

A young guy, no older than nineteen or twenty, comes over. I vaguely recognise him from somewhere. Was it from the night in the pub? It must’ve been.

“Take the kid out and show him our rides. You watch him like your life depends on it, because it does.”

It seems excessive, but it makes me feel better while he’s out of my sight. I trust Louis wouldn’t let him go off with someone if it wasn’t safe.

“Thomas, this is Havoc. You stay with him, and he’ll show anything you want to see.”

Thomas’s smile warms my heart, like it does every time I see it. Watching them walk out, Louis’s hold around me doesn’t loosen. And when I glance at him, I frown. I don’t get it. He wanted to bring me here, but it’s clear he’s uncomfortable.

“Come sit with us. You want a drink?” Chaos asks me.

“Sure. I’ll have a water.”

Sitting around a large table, I feel like a celebrity with the way everyone’s watching us.

Riot is the first to speak. “What I want to know is, what the fuck do you see in our Psycho?”

“Leave her alone, brother,” Mayhem cajoles, with a hint of amusement in his tone.

“Isn’t it obvious? She has to be missing some brain cells,” Riot hollers, slamming his hand down on the table with a deep ruckus of laughter.

Louis tilts his head slightly to the side, wordlessly telling his brothers to shut their mouths. And they do.

“This is why it’ll be the only time I bring her around here,” he tells them.

“Ah, don’t be like that. It’s nice you finally have a woman in your life. We were beginning to think your dick didn’t work,” Chaos snorts.

I blush… hard.

“Fuck you,” Louis spits.

Thankfully, talk turns away from us, but I do notice Louis stays quiet most of the time. He looks at peace, which in turn, makes me relax even more.

After a while, I lean in close and ask Louis where the bathroom is. Pointing me in the direction I need to go, I make my way inside. The place isn’t the nicest, but it’s clean enough to use. After finishing my business, I’m washing my hands when a woman comes in and leans against the wall nearest the sinks, her breasts bulging out of her tight top. I swear, I’m expecting them to pop out at any moment. Her full lips are stained red, and her hair looks like it’ll catch fire if she gets too close to a naked flame with the amount of product she has in it.

“Hi,” I offer, smiling.

She tilts her head and narrows her eyes, her thick lashes casting black gates to her horridness. Her smile makes me feel so uneasy, I take a step back.

“This is hilarious. You’re so sweet. What the hell does he see in you?”

“Excuse me?”
