But each moment away from finding Diana is a moment too close to her inching towards death.

I'll just have to improvise.

I find the door to the warehouse and open it slowly, inch by inch, making sure no one hears me.

The warehouse is dimly lit with only a few streaks of sunlight piercing through the cracks in the walls, casting eerie shadows across the floor.

I move quietly, scanning the area for any sign of Diana or movement from Atwell's henchmen.

And then I see her.

Tied to a pole in the center of the warehouse, her body bound by rough ropes that dig into her skin.

Her face is bruised and battered, blood marring her once flawless complexion.

My stomach churns at the sight, anger and fear bubbling up within me.

"Anthony," she whispers, her voice barely audible.

"You need to leave."

"Shh," I urge her softly, approaching her cautiously.

"I'm not leaving without you."

"Atwell –" she tries to warn me, but I don't need her to tell me about the danger.

All I care about is getting her out of this hellhole.

"Focus on me," I command, my voice firm but gentle.

“I’ve got you.”

Her eyes lock onto mine, and I can see the fear within them.

But I also see something else. Trust.

She trusts me to protect her, and I won't let her down.

"Stay quiet," I whisper, carefully looking around before I start working on untying her.

The ropes are wound tight, digging further into her skin as I struggle to loosen them.

"Ant, they're coming back," she breathes out fearfully, her eyes darting toward the door.

"They've just gone out for a few seconds... for fire," she shudders.

For fire? Whatever does she mean?

I want to ask, but now is not the time.

"Almost got it," I grit out through clenched teeth, the ropes almost giving way under my insistent hands.

But then, my efforts are interrupted.

"Anthony, please," she pleads, tears welling up in her eyes. "Behind you."

An icy chill runs down my spine as the warehouse door slams open and Damon Atwell strides in, followed by a man I now recognize as Agent Miller, his cruel eyes fixed on us.
