I spin her around before bringing her closer.

Her free hand goes to the back of my neck, her arm resting across my right shoulder as our joined hands are placed against my chest.

I have to use a great deal of effort to keep my right hand on the small of her back and not travel further down.

That isn't going to be something she is receptive to at the moment.

We begin to sway to the music, and I scan the room briefly to ensure that everything is alright.

We aren’t expecting trouble tonight, but you never know how our rivals are going to react if they hear the news of a celebration.

Given the importance of my pending wedding, we have kept a tight lid on it.

It will be a hot topic for our rivals, and someone could be stupid enough to try and kill us while we are here together.

It is why most of our family gatherings are done on short notice, so there isn’t any time for a rival to catch wind of the location and create an ambush.

So far, everything has been going smoothly, and I am hoping the rest of the night will follow suit.

I glance back down at Diana, who, to my surprise, is actually looking back at me.

I would have assumed her eyes would be anywhere but my own.

I can’t get over how beautifully brown they are.

It isn’t a dark brown like my own, but a softer hue.

I could swear there are small flecks of green as well, but with the lighting, it is difficult to tell.

I have yet to see her during the day in sunlight, but now I want nothing more than to see her eyes sparkle within the sunbeams.

Her eyes are dancing with emotions.

Most I expect are frustration and aggravation at the situation her own father is putting her in.

However, I also see a speck of attraction within them, and that gives me hope that maybe one day we could have something real between us.

Slowly I begin to close the gap between our lips.

It is as if our lips are magnets and we can’t be happy until we are back together again.

Inch by slow inch, I grow closer until our lips are just about to touch.

I am expecting to feel her soft warm lips pressed against my own, but instead, I am welcomed by air.

She snaps back at the last second, clearly shocked by how close we had come.

"I need some air," is all she says before she turns and leaves me there in the middle of the dance floor.
