I don't want to get out of bed, cocooned in warmth.

Anthony's arm is draped over me, his body pressed along my back.

For a moment I allow myself to relax into him.

It feels...nice. Right, even.

Then my brain catches up and I tense.

This man is practically a stranger.

Worse, he's the son of a mob boss.

Likely dangerous.

I ease out from under his arm.

He mumbles in his sleep but doesn't wake.

Padding to the window, I peek out at the moonlit farmyard.

It's so peaceful here.

Hard to believe we're fugitives on the run.

Behind me, the bed creaks.

"Morning," Anthony rumbles.

I turn to find him watching me, hair endearingly mussed.

"Evening." I give him a tentative smile.

"We're just about to have dinner."

"Oh right," he says, rubbing away the sleep from his eyes.

"Sleep okay?"

"Surprisingly, yes."

The admission comes unbidden.

His grin widens. "Me too."

I feel my cheeks heat and turn back to the window.

Get it together, Diana.

This forced proximity is playing tricks on your mind.

Voices sound from downstairs. Our hosts are waiting.

I take a deep breath and turn to face him again. "We should head down. Don't want to overstay our welcome."

Anthony nods, stretching. The thin t-shirt pulls taut across his muscular chest. I force my eyes away.

Downstairs, the smell of sizzling meat fills the air. My stomach rumbles embarrassingly loud.
