With a sigh, I try to force myself to sleep because my mind is in such a jumble that if I don't actively put a stop to it, I could go on with these questions all night long.

Chapter 12

Anthony

Iwakewithastart, heart pounding because for a moment I forget where I am.

Then, it all comes back to me.

Diana lies next to me, her breathing slow and even.

The early morning light filters through the blinds, casting stripes across her face.

So peaceful.

Oblivious to the danger that lurks outside this cabin, the hitman named Damon Atwell who's been sent to kiss us both because of the enemies my father made.

I slip out of bed, moving as quietly as I can.

I can't wake her. Not yet.

I set up my laptop on the small desk in the corner, the screen glowing in the dim light.

My fingers fly across the keys as I log in remotely to my secure server, sifting through encrypted files and contacts.

There has to be some way Atwell is tracking us down.

Is there a trace on my computer?

The phone's a burner, and I carry no other tech with me.

If there is a breach, it has to be on my laptop.

"Think, damn it," I mutter under my breath.

Maybe there's someone I can call.

I scroll through my contacts saved on the hard drive I carry.

Each call poses a risk.

Right now, with the situation as precarious as it is, I'm not sure who has my back and who would spy on me for my father down the line, or worse, Atwell.

My leg jitters with nervous energy as I scroll through page after page, encryption after encryption.

Everything looks good.

There's no breach.

So, how does Atwell know where to find us?

Suddenly, the thought crosses my mind.

Could there be a mole within our midst?

What if my best friend Zo updated my dad and someone overheard in the team betrayed Diana and I?

Fuck. There's no one I can call without putting us at risk further.
