With great effort, I manage to get down a few bites before pushing the tray away.

Exhaustion floods my body.

Growing a human is no easy task, though my condition must remain secret for now.

I sink back against the mountain of pillows, letting my eyes drift closed.

My hand slides down to cradle the tiny bump below my navel, an instinctive move to shield my unborn child.

"It's going to be okay," I whisper, my voice a tremulous thread in the quiet room.

This baby is all that matters now.

I let my mind wander as I lie there, tracing random patterns on my belly.

My thoughts drift back to last night with Anthony.

The passion we shared, bodies entwined, his sculpted muscles flexing under my touch.

Now we face this new challenge together.

Hunted by a shadowy enemy, unsure who to trust.

Our fathers' shady dealings have destroyed so much.

I won't let their darkness touch my child.

The sound of the door opening stirs me from my reverie.

Anthony enters quietly, not wanting to disturb my rest.

Our eyes meet and an unspoken understanding passes between us.

We are in this together now.

"Did you find anything?" I ask, my voice hushed.

He shakes his head. "Not yet. But I'm getting close, I can feel it."

I nod, a hard lump forming in my throat.

We cannot hide here forever.

Time is running out.

Anthony sits on the edge of the bed and brushes a strand of hair from my face.

His touch calms my fraying nerves.

"Try to get some rest,Principesa," he murmurs gently.

I close my eyes again as he kisses my forehead softly. His reassuring presence lets me relax, if only for a moment.

There are still so many unknowns ahead. But we will face the coming darkness together.
