I’d started drinking yesterday after the fight with Kostas. This was the second fight we had that left me wondering what I did wrong and if this was going to become habitual. It confused me when things between us would go well, joking and talking about the future. But then he would drink, and he would turn into someone else. I had set up some job interviews for him in LA, and when he returned home after a long trip, and I hadn’t made dinner; he lost it.

He threw the decorative plates on the dining table and called me lazy. He asked why I wouldn’t have a meal waiting for him after a long day of traveling and stressful meetings. I must be stupid, he’d said. I apologised, and he stormed off to the bedroom.

When he returned, freshly showered and with a bowl of leftover Alfredo; he’s apologised and promised to never act like that again. And then it happened again yesterday.

It seemed to happen the most when he was stressed, but no one deserved to be a punching bag, and this wouldn’t last long if that’s the way he was planning to treat me.

With Leo gone back home,my heart ached.

It felt dull, just a small splinter needling my heart now and again. Or maybe I missed my mother. Leo and I had shared all our firsts together. We made jokes about fated friendships because we had the same birth year and birth date.

Leo was my first kiss.

He was nervous about kissing a girl and needed my help. I laughed at him and slapped his arm, but he was sensitive, and looked at me with his brown puppy dog eyes. He didn’t find it funny at all. After I ranted at him about how funny and handsome he was, and how it was crazy to be afraid of something so trivial; I grabbed his face and kissed him.

They parted for me immediately, and my first thought was how good it felt, how right. The softness of lips moved over mine and when he touched his tongue to mine, my dick went stiff. He thanked me, blushing, and ran to his mother’s car. Off on a quest to bury himself inside someone’s pussy. He told me later that he made her come that night.

That a boy.

“What the fuck, bro? The lawn ain’t gonna mow itself! I’ve got beers to drink!!” Damien’s voice snapped me out of my nostalgia, and I felt the heavy weed whacker in my hand. Sweat had already drenched the back of my “Todd’s Treehouse Landscaping” T-shirt.

What kind of fucking name is that? A treehouse doesn’t need a landscaper. I flipped him off with my gloved hand, covered in green from the chopped-up blades. These fucking people had it all. I couldn’t picture mom growing up in this place. My memories of her were blurry, but when you were a boy, your mom was your first love. I made my way around the back of the sprawling property. A three-story Cape that had an indoor and outdoor pool, a tennis court and a five-car garage. I cranked the mower on with three violent snaps backwards with my arm. The machine buzzed to life, and I tucked my head down, focusing on the tall weeds at the edges of the flower beds.

As I rounded the corner of the in-ground pool, two manicured feet appeared in front of me. A small tap on my shoulder and I turned off the splicing noise. I wiped my forehead with the back of my forearm and looked down at a petite, raven haired stunner. Her skin looked like glass, unflawed and the colour of clouds. She wore a black bikini that matched her hair, with an oversized silver necklace around her neck. An enormous diamond glinted in the sun on her ring finger.

“I’m really sorry to bother you.” She let her eyes slide up and down my tall (towering over her) body. I smiled, thinking about all twenty-five ways I could fuck her by defying the law of gravity.

“Can I take your photo? Are you Greek? You are exquisitely handsome.” She held up the 35MM camera in her hand and I nodded. She backed up a little, and my dick twitched when she called me handsome. While she clicked her camera button, I pictured doing vile things to her toned, curvy body.

Click— my face in between those lush thighs. Click— fucking her tight asshole while she screams. Click— squirting all over her tits and face.

“Thanks. I appreciate it.” She bit her lip, but if I wasn’t watching her sexy pout, I never would have seen it.

Say something. Say anything. What the fuck?

By the time my thoughts came back into focus she was already back at her lounge chair on the other side of the pool. I memorised the house number as I left and made a silent promise that I would do every single thing I’d imagined to this sexy, raven-haired Stepford wife later.

I didn’t give a fuck who her husband was.

I spentthe next afternoon at Corona del Mar State Beach, ordering ridiculous amounts of chicken wings and virgin strawberry daiquiris at a takeout tiki bar.

Juniper came along. I didn’t want to be that weird, solitary new kid on top of everything else. Juniper’s personality was bubbly and bright, making it a challenge for me to be in a broody mood around her. Her dread locked hair was thick and wrapped in threads with charms. Juniper had ample curves, her tits full and spilling out of her bikini-top. They jiggled as she ran, chasing around somebody’s random toddler who strayed away. She was helping the little girl scoop soupy sand into a pink sand pale, looking back at me underneath her arm.

The water splashed up her legs and both squealed with delight, Juniper bending over to splash in the waves. Her snug bottoms pulled taut against her ass cheeks and created a small heart in between her plump thighs.

She ran over to the towel she had laid out, sitting down beside me, and dramatically gasping for air. “Thanks for inviting me out, this was really nice.” She scanned the shore, shielding her eyes with her hand.

“Thanks for not making me feel like a loser for asking.” I smirked, and she smiled.

“Who would turn down a fine piece of ass like you?” She laughed, throwing sand at me as she ran off. I should think about my future, my place here with my dad and Judas. How long would we live here? Would things even work out between Dad and this new woman? Did I even want to visit once I was in school?

Judas and I had a complicated relationship with our father. One that began when Judas started getting into trouble and Dad couldn’t keep a job. It started as a summer spent in Greece with our Yia-Yia, then it turned in to a yearly thing. She still followed all Greek traditions and gave me the evil-eye necklace that I still wore today. At the beginning of each month, she would make fried courgetti balls for breakfast. ‘Kalo Mina’, she would say. Good month.

We had a strict schedule and curfew when we were there. The Greek Orthodox religion believes in a powerful community and working together. Each school year got worse. Our parents fought, and my father would end up leaving. I guess I could learn to like it here. At least I didn’t have to witness the fights anymore.

I liked Juniper, and I had Judas. Dad would undoubtedly try to find a new business endeavour in any way possible. I needed to find better hobbies than binge watching Netflix and reading. I should get back to my workouts. I watched Juniper as she wrapped a towel around herself and patted her hair dry. She was cool. I liked Juniper.

“Okay, let me try to guess something about you. A random observation.” She sat back in the beach chair she brought.
