“One and the same,” she says lazily like she’s so fucking bored she might fall asleep. I know she’s gotta be tired enough to.

“How’s the newlywed life treating you so far?” Kordin asks me.

“Still getting used to it.”

“I can see that. Did you forget your ring at home?” His grasp on my hand tightens as his eyes drop to my empty ring finger.

I flash a tight smile, telling him, “I lost it,” then pull my hand from his. I shouldn’t have let the handshake go on that long. I shouldn’t have touched him, period.

Without looking away from…somewhere on my face, he says, “Lenox, remember the time I lost my wedding band?”

Licking her lips, Lex shakes her head, her gaze on the ceiling like she’s embarrassed. Oh, she’s awake now.

Kordin reaches his hand over his shoulder, covering Lex’s on the handle, and looks up at her.

The only thing on me that moves are my nostrils as they flare.

They have history. There’s a familiarity between them I expected but wasn’t ready to have shoved down my throat. He’s touching her. He’s gazing at her. He’s openly flirting with her. He’s…loving her. And he’s doing it all with no effort, no resistance, no consequences whatsoever.

I want that. All of it. With Lex.

Next to me, Kaisin shifts on his feet. He wants it, too.

He’s not getting it. Not with her.

Tearing his attention from his wife, Kordin starts to explain with a chuckle, “We thought we were going to have to take Lenox to the hospital—”

“This is hardly appropriate conversation for the workplace,” Lex rushes to say.

“—luckily, I was able to retrieve it on my own.”

Jesus fucking Christ. His wedding band came off in Lex’s pussy, I’m gonna assume while he was fingering her.

I wonder if he’d still be laughing if I told him what I left behind in there just hours ago. My saliva and cum won’t land Lex in the hospital, but Kordin’s begging for me to send his ass back there with stories like this. First time meeting a brand-new employee and he’s talking about finger-fucking his wife. He’s either trying to rub it in my face or Kaisin’s.

Or both since he’s an entitled hollow prick that like.

I should stroke his ego so he doesn’t see me as a threat, but I can’t pass up the opportunity to rock his confidence at least a little.

“Thankfully, I’m a righty.” I lift said hand, crooking both my middle and ring finger to show these fucking stiffs how a woman is supposed to be fingered. “So right hand only for my wife.”

Lex finally looks at me, her green eyes piercing, but I’m not sure if it’s because I said “my wife” or because I insinuated Kordin doesn’t know how to please his.

“I’m right-handed, too,” Kordin says.

I already figured he was, and the weak, clumsy handshake with his left confirmed it, so what the fuck was he doing using his left hand to finger Lex?

“Mm,” I hum with a thoughtful head-nod, tucking my hand away again.

“That was a long time ago,” Lex adds in. “I’ve trained him well since then.” She pats Kordin’s shoulder, never breaking eye contact with me.

Is she standing up for him? Or getting me back?

Both feel like a knife through the gut.

“Excuse me, Lenox, the men are talking,” Kordin snaps, all traces of tenderness gone.

The hand in my pocket clenches into a fist, my short nails biting my palm. This is more like the Kordin I first met, when he offered his wife’s sweet cunt to me in exchange for absolutely fuck all. I’ve been through his house, there’s not a single thing in it I’d let another man stick his dick in Lex for.
