“I’m talking about what that kiss ultimately led to after our guests left.”

“Fucking?”

“Mm.”

“You’re lying.”

I raise both shoulders as if to sayyou’ll never know.

“You let Kordin fuck you?”

As eyes colder than the dark side of the moon bore into mine, all I can muster is a nod.

“Are you telling me this because you can smell Cia on me?”

My shoulders droop like gravity just kicked back on. “What?”

“Cia? Last time she and I…”

“Fucked?” I hear myself ask without feeling my lips move.

“Yeah. Last time we fucked.”

My lungs seize up, the oxygen flowing between my lips catching, loud enough for Reece to notice and smirk triumphantly.

“You smelled her on me afterward, and since we were just together last night, I thought—”

“That I was a hothead with unreasonable expectations like you?” I shake both my head and my discomfort. “Who you fuck is not my concern.”

Reece drops the smile. “Just who I marry?”

“You’re not married.” As hard as I try not to, I glance down at his ring finger. I also take a surreptitious inhale through my nose, seeking any hint of Cia’s atrocious perfume.

God, this is pathetic. I’m pathetic.

“But when you thought I was, you got mad when I brought my sister in because you assumed she was my wife.”

“I wasn’t mad. I was preoccupied with formulating a plan to dismember you because she was clearly a minor.”

“You were mad. And you were so relieved when I told you the truth, that I made the engagement up, that you even fucked my mouth with yours.”

“Don’t delude yourself. I kissed you because I was drunk and you were easy.”

“You were jealous.”

“You’re projecting, Mr. Souza. And reaching.”

“Fuck you,Lenox,” he spits, pinching my nerve in the same way I just pinched his. “I’m open with my possession. You try to hide yours. Like you’re doing now.”

I fake a partial laugh, feeling my own anger rise up.

“How could I possibly be possessive if my husband cheats on me constantly?”

“Because your husband doesn’t make you happy.”

The truth squeezes my heart in my chest. Again.Damn it.

I fight through the pain to tell him, “I found what I need.”
