The thought has me licking my own.

Reece’s throat bobs with a swallow.

He’s too easy.

Dressed in a form-fitting black suit, his jacket’s lapels hang open, showcasing a white button-up, except it’s missing a few buttons, so his chest and the top of his chiseled abs are visible. Reece is one gorgeous specimen. He should be walking runways, not stalking around in a ski mask, ruining people’s lives.

“You can come in,” I rasp. “If you want.”

I can feel Cat’s gaze on the side of my face, but my oldest friend only tells our voyeur, “Yeah, come keep Lexi company for me.”

“Where’re you going, Kitty?” Reece steps inside and closes the door behind him, lingering there for a second. “I thought you were working.”

With his hands in his pockets but his chin lifted, he strolls over to the middle of the small, warm room. My eyes track his every move while his stay glued to mine.

“I am working,” she protests.

Tearing my gaze from Reece’s, I ask Cat, “Is four hundred okay?”

“Five would be better.”

“Can you grab my wallet?”

“I got you, baby.” Bending at the hips, Cat braces her palms flat on the coffee table, walks them across the surface a hand at a time to where my purse is, then lifts a platform heel behind her in a sexy pose.

Reece scans Cat’s body, focusing on her cheeky panties. I wait until he looks my way to pretend to blush from catching him in his perusal.

Cat stands up again to hand me my clutch, and I give her five crisp hundred-dollar bills.

“What’d you do to earn that?”

While any other person in this club would’ve asked that with suspicion and jealousy, Reece’s tone only holds curiosity.

“Wanna see?” Cat asks him, and after a brief hesitation, he shakes his head.

With my left elbow propped on the back of the loveseat, I stick my middle finger between my teeth, rubbing both knuckles along the jagged edges to hide the smile trying to take shape.

“Good, ’cause I’m never having another kid again. Them little rats are expensive.”

Reece’s dark eyebrows furrow. “Kid?”

“Yeah, my kid’s doing a fundraiser for his school. Some kind of run he needs sponsors for. Lexi just donated five hundred dollars.”

She grins at Reece, but when all he offers is a deeper frown, she matches his expression.

He looks from her to me, then back again before rolling his eyes and pulling out his own wallet.

“Sixty?” Cat scoffs, staring at the cash he forks over. “His teacher can drop that in one trip to the craft store.”

Reece’s eyes meet mine again, so I shrug a shoulder. Teachers everywhere are grossly underpaid; Fox Hollow’s are no exception.

“Fucking shakedown,” he murmurs.

He passes over more bills, making Cat’s smile reappear as she singsongs, “Thank you.”

“Grind With Me” by Pretty Ricky starts playing quietly and I almost get up and change it. This song’s been in Lost and Found’s rotation for so long.

“Now, I gotta go round up more donations from the girls and I only have about ten minutes before Cyrus comes back here and notices I’m off the floor. Can I trust you to take good care of my girl here?”
