My childhood bedroom looked almost exactly the same as it had when I’d left for college — the same pink walls, the same canopy bed with its ruffled curtains, and even the same posters of Justin Bieber and One Direction plastered on the walls. It seemed both strange and oddly fitting that I was about to have sex with a bonafide rock star while staring into the faces of my teen idols.

Knox closed the door behind us, and suddenly, the rest of the world ceased to exist. We were alone in our own little world, and all I wanted was to lose myself in him.

“Summer,” he murmured, looking into my eyes as he pulled me close. “I’ve wanted you all day long. I’ve barely been able to keep my hands off you.”

“We have to be quiet,” I breathed, wrapping my arms around his neck.

He glanced over at my frilly bed. “You’ll have to scream into that Barbie pillow, then.”

My hands shook as they yanked his shirt from his pants with fervor. In an electrifying frenzy, our bodies were entwined in a flurry of fabric as we tore the clothes from each other as fast as we could.

Our breaths were labored and our movements frantic. I wanted to make this moment last forever, to savor every second that I could spend with him. As his mouth sought out mine, I could feel our connection deepening, my heart growing more entwined with his with each passing moment. It was as if all the puzzle pieces of our lives were finally falling into place, locking us together in a bond that could never be broken.

We moved together in perfect harmony as if our bodies were meant to be interlocked like this since the dawn of time.

“Knox,” I gasped, feeling the heat building inside me with every thrust of his hips. “I—I can’t keep quiet.”

“Your parents need to build a guest yurt out in the back,” he replied between grunts.

He sounded so serious that I broke out into laughter.

“You think that’s funny, lass?” He slipped a finger between my legs to stroke my clit while he pumped in and out of me. I wasn’t laughing any longer, because I felt on the edge of exploding.

A loud moan tore from my throat and then waves of pleasure began washing over me. Shockwaves of pleasure rippled throughout my body, radiating out from my center and down through my limbs until I was trembling beneath him. A few seconds later, Knox joined me with his own release.

Knox groaned as he let go of his passionate embrace and rolled onto his back beside me, both of us panting from the intensity of what we’d just experienced together. His arm gathered me close to him and suddenly I felt safe and secure for the first time in a long time — as if nothing bad could ever touch me when we held each other like this.

“I love you, Summer. You’re my everything,” Knox whispered, his voice shaking with emotion.

“I love you too, Knox,” I replied, feeling tears prick at the corners of my eyes. “Always.”

As we lay there afterward in the sweet silence, I couldn’t help but wonder what would happen when Knox went on tour. Would he leave me behind and move on, just like Brad did all those years ago? Seeing Brad had stirred up some old wounds, that left me feeling slightly uneasy, until sleep eventually pulled me under.

The morning light filtered through the curtains, casting a warm glow across the room. As I stirred, memories of last night with Knox came flooding back, making me smile despite my best efforts to hide it. I could still feel the lingering heat of his touch on my skin, and it made my heart race.

“Summer,” my mother called from downstairs. “Breakfast is ready!”

“Be right down!” I yelled back, quickly getting dressed and glancing over at Knox, who was still fast asleep. I blew him a quiet kiss before slipping out of the room, hoping my parents hadn’t heard anything last night.

The smell of freshly brewed coffee and bacon greeted me as I entered the kitchen. My mother stood by the stove, flipping pancakes, while my father scrolled through his phone at the table.

“Good morning,” I said, trying to sound casual.

“Morning, sweetheart,” my mom replied, giving me a warm smile. “Did you and Knox have a good time at the party last night?”

“Uh, yeah, we did,” I answered, feeling a flush creeping up my cheeks. “We had a great time.”

“Sit down and eat,” she instructed, placing a plate of steaming pancakes in front of me. “We need to talk.”

My stomach tightened at her words. Was something wrong? Was she sick again?

“Okay, Mom,” I said hesitantly, taking a seat at the table.

“Your father and I noticed how happy you’ve been lately,” she began, her eyes softening. “And we wanted to tell you that we’re so glad you’ve gotten back together with Knox. When you called to tell us who he really was, well, that made me worry. But it turns out our first impressions about him were right after all. He’s a wonderful person and we can tell how much he cares about you.”

“You’ve always liked him, Mom.” I smiled, pleased by her words.

“True,” she confirmed, sitting down across from me. “But he’s lived up to all our expectations. You deserve all the happiness in the world, Summer. And if Knox is the one who brings that to you, then your father and I couldn’t be more thrilled.”
