Spyder’s eyes turn interested, which is not what I was meaning to have happen, and there is a little something extra in the smirk he gives me. “No one misses our parties. They’re legendary for getting drunk, getting fucked up, and fixing whatever bullshit isn’t sitting right in your heart. Isn’t it, Mia?”

This time Mia’s lips are pulled so tight, like she’s trying not to combust. “Of course. Okay, now get out of here.”

Spyder gives us each a wink and trots off down the hallway with his band member. His swagger is confident and I silently applaud him.

“Don’t mind him. He’s harmless. We’re actually really good friends.” Mia’s face turns soft, while she watches him.

“I think I might go,” I tell her. Mia’s lips curve up in another smile and she leans closer.

“I think that might be a really good idea.” She moves past me after giving my arm a little squeeze.

Once she’s gone, my attention focuses back to the disaster in the practice room. I flick my towel over my shoulder and hustle back inside. The sooner this nightmare is over, the sooner I can get drunk.

Spyder did not liewhen he said their parties are epic. I’ve never been into parties until going to parties and taking my clothes off for money became a way to earn my next meal. High school traumatized me. That last party of Rip’s still makes my stomach swirl. Corey. Him attacking me caused trauma and nightmares for a long time. I learned to dive into my second skin and tune out everyone when I worked, just to get through it. I don’t think it's possible here. Everyone is unbelievably friendly. A drink has been in my hand, unopened since I arrived, and not one single guy has tried to be sleazy with me.

I slide along the island counter and set my drink on top before finally popping it open.

“I’m so jealous.” A girl huffs and sits next to me on the bar stool.

I turn to her, unsure if I should excuse myself and give her some space or see if she needs me to swipe her something. The minute my eyes land on her, recognition hits. Ocean Heart. She made huge waves in the industry when she jumped ship from Big Notes Entertainment. BNE is the largest company in the industry. I’m sort of in awe of her.

“Should I swipe you one? You want mine?”

She laughs and her eyes look around the room before lowering her head. “No. My watch dogs are paying attention. Why make me come and hang around if they’re going to take any drink that gets handed to me.”

“You mean Spyder then?” I scoff and shake my head, feeling just as mad as her.

She sighs. “Yeah, Spyder and Becks. Idiots. I’m Ocean, by the way.”

“I,” my smile falters and I know pink stains my cheeks, “I promise I’m not a crazy fan but I know.”

She smiles, and it's not evil or snarky. “I promise I'm not weird or a stalker either, but I know you’re Jade Lennon. I sort of sat here on purpose.”

I almost choke on my drink and she giggles, her hand pats my back twice. “Sorry.”

“You know me?” I don’t know what to say. Does everyone know who I am and why?

Her shoulders shrug, and this time, she looks a little embarrassed. “I saw you dance. And to be honest, there is a lot of talk going around about why Onyx suddenly brought you on. I think it's amazing because you’re beautiful and he’s hot. I already ship this secret love you guys have going on.”

This time my mouth falls open and I laugh hard. “No, no there is nothing going on. Please tell me he doesn’t know this.”

Her head tilts and she runs her eyes over me knowingly. “Okay, so nothing is going on now. But there is a history, isn't there?”

I groan and my head falls into my hands. “How obvious? Is it me or him?”

Ocean practically cackles. “I’m really good at sniffing out broken hearts. I already know Mia’s ex-flame is chasing her down and there isn’t much time left before she caves. I can see the way he looks at her though, he’s in deep. I see them going the distance.”

“What do you see for me?”

Ocean eyes me until something catches her gaze behind me. She clamps her lips together and shakes her head, silently telling me we’ll talk later. In the next breath, I see Spyder slide up beside Ocean and another body is at my back.

“You ladies having fun?” The voice is velvety smooth, and I can’t help but glance over my shoulder. He’s tall and gorgeous, of course. “I’m Conrad.” He holds out his hand to me.

“Jade,” I tell him and give him my own hand. “We’d probably be having more fun if Ocean wasn’t on a drinking ban.”

Conrad smirks and his eyes move to Ocean, who is giving Spyder pleading eyes. “Yeah, I’ll let you handle that one, mate.” He laughs and I can’t help but giggle too.
