I wanted to grin but managed to hold on to my smile. “We’ll take care of each other. Because that’s what mates do.”

Sting grinned. “Yep.”

“Everyone ready?” Eagle pulled me to him, kissing my temple. Like we’d been together forever. It melted something in my heart as nothing else ever had before.

“We are,” Sting said. “Puttin’ Clutch in charge of this one, brother. Pretty sure this is about your woman, and the rest of us have an ax to grind. Clutch is the highest rankin’ officer with combat experience and no personal stake.”

Eagle nodded. “I’m on board with that. Who’s at the hospital with the women?”

“Stitches, obviously. Mars and Ace. Wylde is staying here to monitor everything. I think the fucker managed to hack into the city camera system and has eyes everywhere.”

“Good.” He turned back to me, cupping my face between his hands. “You promise to stay with one of them at all times.” It was an order.

“I promise, Eagle. I’m not going anywhere and I’m not going to put myself in danger needlessly.”

“At all, girl. You won’t put yourself in danger at all.”

I smiled. “You know I’ll also protect my new friends, right?”

“Girl…”

I kissed him. “Go. Take care of business and come back to me. We have a shit ton to talk about.”

“That one’s gonna be as big as a handful as Winter and Serelda ever thought about being.” Sting seemed amused but Eagle just scowled.

“Don’t encourage her, Sting. She’s not as fragile as I first thought and I’m not sure I like this courage she has.”

Sting laughed, clapping Eagle on the back. “Welcome to the club, brother.”

“What club? The one where every woman in the place takes our man cards?”

“Exactly.”

Chapter Five

Eagle

Wylde came through in brilliant fashion. “If I’ve never told you before you’re the motherfucking tech guy, Wylde, I’m telling you now,” Clutch muttered through his throat mic.

“Unsolicited praise is unneeded but always welcome,” Wylde’s chipper voice answered. “These guys are sophisticated but stupid as shit.”

“You sure these are our guys?” Brick asked, his voice soft but no nonsense. He didn’t take his eyes away from the night vision field glasses where he studied the house Milo Hutch’s men had set themselves up. “They seem a little relaxed for what they did this afternoon. Not like they expect anyone to come after them.”

“They think they got away clean,” Wylde said. I could hear him popping his gum. He was decidedly more relaxed now that he’d found his prey. “I can hear them laughing about how they got the drop on us with that drone. Think we couldn’t use it to find them.”

“I thought you used the city camera system to find them,” Clutch commented.

“Nope. Shooter recovered a drone, and I backtracked the remote signal.”

“I’m assuming you also hacked something inside the house to know what they’re talking about.”

“Please,” Wylde scoffed. “Why would you even consider I wouldn’t hack into the house? You know. Phones. Computers. The security system. Anything hooked to a router or any network including satellite. Which they have, and think is secure.” He popped another bubble.

“Why indeed,” Clutch muttered. “Sound off.” This time his voice was stronger, a commander expecting obedience. Every member of the team signaled their readiness. “Remember, no one dies.”

“Yet,” I muttered, which got a few chuckles.

“Right. Let’s do this.”

Gaining entry to the house was nothing. Me and Cyrus kicked in the door while the others took various windows. Ten minutes later, the whole group was on their knees, bound and gagged, looking as shocked as anyone could. It was almost comical.

“Well, that was anticlimactic,” Clutch muttered. “They get off a message to Hutch?”

“Nope,” Wylde answered. “I hit all their electronics with a bit of a surge, you could say.”

“Huh?” Sting’s brows knit together.

“Little something I modified from Argent Tech. Need-to-know only.”

“Cocky bastard.” Clutch shook his head, but he grinned.

“It’s only being cocky if you can’t back it up. And I’m the motherfucking tech guy.”

We loaded everyone up. There were six of the bastards. We stripped them down and secured them in one of the trailers we’d normally use to haul our bikes. They’d be entering our compound naked as the day they were born, which would delight the club whores to no end. It was all part of the torture, mental rather than physical. We had answers we wanted and, with what they’d done to our women, they didn’t get to keep any dignity.

“Take them to the barn. Put them in the stall across from Maniac and Lynch.” Sting was now firmly back in control. He’d relinquished it for this op to keep from getting anyone killed if things went sideways since his instinct would be to go after the fuckers no matter what, but I’d known he couldn’t last long.

“You killin’ those two tonight?” Brick asked the question, looking eager. Maniac and Lynch had been lingering for a couple of months now. The pair had betrayed the club by trying to oust Sting as president in a less than honorable way. If they’d been successful, Brick and Sting would both be dead. They were paying for their actions now.
