I wasn’t sure I could eat at the moment. I felt like everyone was watching us. I shook my head.

“I don’t know if I likeTop Gun,” Shiloh said as she walked into the room and looked at Gage.

The way he smiled at her was intense. “You do.”

That was odd. But then when we had talked about movies, Shiloh had mentioned movies she didn’t remember, and Trinity had added them to the list too. It’d kind of sounded like she had memory loss. I wanted to ask, but wasn’t sure how to ask.

Shiloh sat on Gage’s lap, and he pulled her closer as she curled up into him. I tore my eyes off that scene, not needing to start feeling sorry for myself. I was alive. That was something to be thankful for. I couldn’t have it all.

Kye handed me my margarita. “Here.”

I took it from him.

“What the fuck did you give her?” Levi asked angrily.

“Her margarita. She can’t reach it with you holding her leg captive.”

“That’s alcohol,” he said, looking down at me. “Is that safe?”

The doctor had said one every once in a while was fine.

“Yes.”

He continued to frown. “I don’t know if I like it.”

“Why?”

He drank all the time.

“Seems like it would be bad for your heart.” His voice lowered.

“If you’re worried, I won’t drink it.”

He stared at me for a moment, and I could see the struggle in his expression. “If the doctor said it’s okay and you want to, then go ahead.”

He looked scared. For me. His pedestal was cemented firmly on the ground.

I handed it to him. “I don’t need it.”

The relief on his face made me smile. “You sure?”

I nodded, and he let out a relieved sigh, then placed it on the table. I watched the way the muscles in his back moved and flexed as he did it.

Gran had always said men only wanted one thing. She’d never seen a man like Levi because he made women only want one thing.

Coming from the garage, Huck walked into the room with a cigar in his mouth and sat down in the leather chair I was beginning to realize was his. He always sat there.

“We gonna watch this movie now, or are we gonna wait on some more people?” Kye asked. His bicep brushed my shoulder; he was sitting so close to me.

“We’re all here,” Trinity replied, going over to take her place in Huck’s lap.

The lights went out, and the movie started. Levi’s arm went around the back of the sofa. He reached down and pulled me closer to him, then left his hand to rest on my shoulder. I wasn’t brushed up against Kye anymore. Levi had pulled me almost on top of him. This was going to make watching the movie difficult. I wanted to bury my face in his chest and inhale. His thumb began to rub a small circle around my arm, and I shivered.

“You cold?” he whispered.

I nodded, needing an excuse for my reaction.

He grabbed a blanket from the other side of him and put it over me. “Better?”
