Standing in the hallway, I looked back and forth between Levi’s bedroom and the room that was supposed to be mine. Today had gone by fast, being at the stables. Now that I had to go to bed, I wasn’t sure where I was supposed to go. This would be a test for my nightmares. If I didn’t have them, then we would know I no longer needed to sleep with Levi.

That thought brought me down. I wanted to sleep with Levi. I wanted Levi, as impossible as that was. I couldn’t help it. Getting to sleep in his bed with him was one of the few things I did get to have, and I didn’t want to give it up. But he hadn’t told me to sleep in there while he was gone.

My phone dinged, and I pulled it from my pocket.

Levi: Are you in bed?

This was the opening I needed.

Me: Not yet. I just got up to my room. We watched Dirty Dancing.

Levi: Go get in my bed.

It shouldn’t surprise me that his texting could also make me ache.

Me: Okay. I wasn’t sure since you aren’t here.

Levi: My bed, Aspen. Always.

I let out a long breath. Wow. The things this man could make me feel.

Me: Okay. I’ll take my shower and get my pajamas on, then go to your bed.

Levi: Shower in my bathroom and wear one of my shirts to sleep in. No panties.

My body felt flushed. I placed my hand on my stomach and tried calming the butterflies going crazy. He was even possessive through text messages. Suddenly, I was very excited about my new phone.

Me: Okay.

I stood up, taking my phone, and went into Levi’s room, closing the door behind me. His scent instantly hit me, and I stood there, breathing it in. I’d missed him today. This wasn’t him, but it made it easier.

Levi: Are you in my room yet?

Me: Yes. I’m going to take a shower.

When he didn’t respond, I set down the phone and went to the bathroom. The plush, large black towels that were rolled in a basket by the shower made me smile. He was so neat. Everything was always in its place.

Slipping off my clothes, I turned on the shower and stepped under the warm water. His body wash and shampoo would make me smell like him. That would be nice. I could smell him all the time. I used both of them and finished my shower, then stepped out onto the black bath mat and took one of his massive towels.

Unable to help myself, I walked over to my phone to see if he’d texted. He had.

Levi: Tell me when you’re out of the shower.

Me: Just got out.

He said nothing more, and I dried my hair and went to his dresser to get a T-shirt. Slipping it over my head, I wrapped my arms around my waist and enjoyed the feel of the soft cotton. I liked wearing his things.

A phone started ringing, and I spun around, confused, staring at my cell phone lying on the bed where I’d tossed it. I hurried over to it, and Levi’s name lit up the screen. I was glad he couldn’t see the ridiculous smile on my face.

“Hello?”

“Hey, sweetheart.” His deep voice made me shiver. “Did you have a good day?”

“Yes. Did you?”

He grunted. “Work shit. But we got one of the jobs handled. Are you in my bed yet?”

I walked over and pulled back the covers. “I am now,” I informed him.
