Without bothering to knock, Carina slides open the pocket doors and walks in, followed closely by a nervous-looking Emily.

Immediately, Luca’s gaze narrows as he takes in his wife’s demeanor. “What’s the matter?”

“We have a problem.”

“What kind of a problem?” he asks.

Both Carina and Emily glare at me, letting me know that whatever the issue is, it has to do with Skye.

“Where is she?” I demand.

“You gave her no choice.” The way she hisses, she clearly blames me.

“Where is she?” I repeat.

“She left.”

She left? No goodbyes? No last words? Just left?

Not that I would have expected anything different. Wanted anything different. In fact, I never want to see her again.

And yet the idea of her out there unarmed, trying to save her sister on her own, makes my stomach clench.

I move to peer out the window. “Did she say where she was going?”

“Where the hell else would she go? She went to see Gideon.”

Her words are like a punch to the gut. I whirl at the same time as Luca growls, “Gideon? She knows where Gideon is and you let her go?”

“Not only did I let her go, but I gave her one of our trucks.”

Luca shakes his head. “She could have helped us get to him! To Sofia!”

“Like she would have done that after she overheard Noah and Arran.”

“What did she overhear?” I ask the women.

“That Noah killed Skye’s father,” Emily says accusingly. “On your order.”

“It’s not what you think,” Noah says to her pleadingly.

“We’ll talk about it later.” She tugs out of his grasp when he tries to hold her.

Luca grinds his teeth, his scowl intense as he goes to his wife. He towers over her, but she doesn’t budge. “The fucker has my sister. Any chance we have to get her back, we have to take it, Carina. Dammit!”

“And that bitch of his killed mine. Or have you forgotten that?” she retorts. “But it’s not about Sofia or Alma right now. It’s about a fifteen-year-old girl who’s probably scared shitless.”

I walk away from the couple arguing and wipe a palm down my face in frustration as my other hand wraps around the diamond collar tucked in my pocket. Fuck me, I should have known that the moment this came off, Skye would do something stupid. I’m not sure if I want to punish her for putting herself at risk or myself for letting her believe she could.

“He’s going to kill her,” I say through gritted teeth. “Goddammit, he’s going to kill them both.”

“It’s not just her you need to worry about.” The ominous tone in Carina’s voice has me turning to her. “It’s your father.”

You’ve guaranteed Skye’s failure. All she wanted was to protect her little sister. Out of the kindness of my heart, I’ll delay their death sentence. Bring me your father by seven, and I’ll spare them.

I read the message and address that was sent from an unknown number. Asshole obviously got a hold of one of my business cards.
