“You brought me here for a month and you’re leaving to conduct business?”

Her gaze narrowed and she cocked her head, expression turning bored even as evidence of their kiss glistened on her full lips. “I’m a businesswoman, Julián. You expected me to be on my back the entire month, with you doing the breaststroke between my legs?”

Of course, he didn’t. But he said, “Fuck, yes.” Because he wanted that fake expression off her face. He wanted the real shit and she gave it to him, fire blazing in her eyes, jaw tightening.

She pushed him away and hopped off the counter, fixing her dress. “Over here with my ass going numb while you’re on some bullshit,” she murmured with a shake of her head. “Fucking men.”

He crowded her, getting all up in her space so that he was practically standing on the tops of her feet. “I’d think twice about lumping me in with those bastards who didn’t appreciate the queen you are and fucked you over.”

She tipped her head back, shoulders straight, a challenge in her eyes. “And if I don’t?”

“We don’t have time for a demonstration now.” He winked. “But remind me to eat your ass until you scream when we get back.”

Her lips twitched as if she were fighting a smile. “Whenweget back?”

“You didn’t think I’d leave your side, did you? You’re mine for a month. And I’m yours. Where you go, I go.”

She rolled her eyes with a huff. “Every hour, I find myself regretting this decision more and more.”

“Does that include the hours I spent putting a spit shine on the kitty?”

“Julián.”

“Sera.”

“Uh-uh. Hell no.” She wagged a finger at him, inching backward. “You will not shorten my name, or give me nicknames, or any of that shit.”

He laughed. “Who will stop me? You?”

She pursed her lips. “I dislike you very much.”

“Hmm.” He stroked his chin, not missing the way her gaze dropped to his mouth. “That’s disappointing.”

She stared him down, expression hard, until another knock came.

“Ma’am, the driver is ready.”

“She’ll need ten more minutes,” Toro called out, then turned to her. “I’m going upstairs to change.” He stroked a finger down the bridge of her nose. “If you leave without me, I will shoot every one of your men until there are none left. And then I’ll deal with you.”

“Threats don’t work on me.”

“Luckily, that wasn’t a threat.” He bent, lips brushing her ear, savoring her shiver. “That was a promise.Sera.” He left then, taking the stairs two at a time and getting dressed in her bedroom.

When he came back downstairs, she wasn’t in the kitchen. He walked out of the house and found a black car idling in the driveway. All the blacked-out windows were up but as he watched, the back passenger-side window rolled down.

“You’re making me late,” Seraphina called. “Get in.”

So Toro got in.

He didn’t know where they were going and he didn’t ask. Another bodyguard rode in the front with the armed driver. A second car followed them, also packed with armed men. Seraphina was a dangerous woman who did business with dangerous people. And she sat beside him looking as regal as ever, expression composed, legs crossed, as she stared straight ahead. She’d put on shoes—silver strappy heels that lengthened her legs even more. Only he wore the scratches from her pleasure on his body. Only he knew she was bare under that body-hugging dress with its v-neck cradling her generous tits. The asymmetrical hem didn’t quite reach her knees.

They drove for about half an hour then pulled off the highway, arriving at an airfield. A vehicle waited, a black SUV, and a lone figure stood near it.

Waiting for them.

When the car stopped, their driver and the bodyguard got out first.

“Who are you meeting?” Toro asked Seraphina. He recognized the man standing there in a black shirt with the sleeves rolled up and gray trousers. He had dark hair and an irritated expression on his face.He was FBI, and at one time, he’d been hunting Toro’s uncle. In fact, Toro had had to talk Daniel out of outright killing the man.
