“Sometimes you terrify me.”

“Only sometimes, Papi? Sounds like I’m not doing my job right.”

He shook his head. “No poison.”

“Are you sure? I could be your secret weapon. Sent in with an innocent smile, ready to take out our enemies with no-bake bars. Nighthawk says he’s got a great recipe. It uses something called Tim Tams. They sound delicious. Can I get some?”

“I feel like the last thing you need is more sugar.”

“Party pooper.”

“You get your worst ideas when you’re on a sugar high, or in a rage, or upset.”

“Papi, sounds like you’re saying all of my ideas are bad.”

“Of course not, Mi Pequeña. I’d never say that.”

She eyed him suspiciously.

“But you are not going to be my secret weapon, you’re not to go around poisoning people, and you’re certainly not to try to bake.”

She huffed out a breath. “So many rules, Papi. Maybe you should be a politician.”

“Now that’s a frightening thought.” He started cleaning her tummy and breasts, running the cloth over her nipples, which grew hard.

“You know, Papi, since you’re already wet, maybe you should just get into the bath with me,” she suggested.

“Is that so?” he murmured, getting her to lie back so he could run the cloth over her pussy.

“Uh-huh. And you know, we can play find the sea snake.”

“Find the sea snake?”

“Yeah, it’s a fun game. I think you’ll like it. First, you need to find the sea snake. The bigger it is, the more points you get. And then you have to squeeze it to see if anything comes out.”

“Dear Lord,” he groaned, putting the cloth to one side and going to the shower to grab her razor and shower gel.

“What you doing, Papi?”

“I’m going to shave your legs.”

She pulled her legs under the bubbles. “Um, what?”

“I’m going to shave your legs.”

“Why would you want to do that? Are they that hairy? Oh my God!” Embarrassment flooded her, and she tried to sink down under the bubbles.

“Uh-uh, none of that now. You know I like being in charge. I like doing things for you, and right now, I want to do this.”

She chewed her lower lip.

“Consider this your punishment for attempting to poison one of my men. And for splashing your Papi.”

“I didn’t means to, Papi. And I didn’t actually attempt to poison him. I just considered it.”

“Leg.” He held out his hand, and with a sigh, she held her leg up. He took hold of her foot and lathered up some cream before patiently shaving her leg.

So weird.

But kind of sweet as well.

She picked up her dragons, playing with them as he continued to shave her legs. When Mama dragon splashed Papa dragon, Alejandro clicked his tongue. “Mama dragon is going to get a spanking.”

Cat gasped in horror. “Papi, do not give Papa dragon ideas. He’s a kind dragon. He doesn’t spank. You obviously know nothing about dragons.”

“I am a dragon, remember?” He finished shaving her legs before lifting her out of the bath. “I’m your dragon.”

“Always and forever?”

“Always and forever.”

Cat giggled to herself the next morning.

Alejandro had left early again, but this time, he’d woken her up to say goodbye first. She hoped there were no more problems at The Circus. He’d tried to leave The Scot with her, but she’d insisted that he take him. He needed both of his bodyguards. Besides, she wasn’t going anywhere today.

Rafael was still here. Alejandro said he would figure something out today, but he wasn’t her bodyguard anymore.

So why did that feel kind of wrong?

She had no idea. Wasn’t as though she liked McGrumpface. Yesterday, she’d been prepared to poison the asshole.

And now . . . well, she was getting her revenge.

Rafael stomped into the kitchen with a frown, pausing when he saw her eating her bread and butter as well as a sneaky glass of chocolate milk.

Some things never changed and when she could get away with it, this was her food of choice. Sometimes, Alejandro would feed her veggies by hand just to get her to eat something else.

But not today.

Rafael glanced around.

“Lost something?” She bit her lip to hold in her giggle.

Do not give it away.

Do not.

Bernard entered the kitchen, eyeing them both suspiciously.

“Bernard, did the newspaper arrive?” Rafael asked.

“Yes, I brought it in earlier and set it down on the kitchen island as usual.” Bernard eyed her suspiciously as he answered Rafael. She tried to look innocent.

It was so hard.

“It’s not here,” Rafael pointed out.

“I could go and get you another one,” Doomy offered.

“No, I can do that. But that one should be somewhere.”

“Maybe someone else has got it,” she said innocently. “They might have taken it into the toilet to read it.”

Rafael blanched. “What?”

She shrugged.

He strode away with a huff.

“What did you do?” Bernie asked.

She grinned at him and finished the piece of bread.

She waited for Rafael to come back from checking the toilets. There were six in the entire house. That she knew of.
