She released a frustrated noise.

I smirked. “What did you think you’d accomplish? That I’d turn against my father after you told me youroh woe is melife story?” I looked her up and down. “I’ll admit that you have been clever and your dedication to revenge is impressive, but you do not know how to play the game.”

“Oh, really?” she said with attitude.

“To answer your first question, I do know why. So let’s just get to the point, shall we?”

She arched a brow. “And why have I done all of this?”

“Because of your obsession with me. Everything you have done has been to get back at me. Not Stefan. He was just a happy bonus because you thought you could torture him to get to me. You didn’t want to have me and because of that you think I ruined your life.”

“You did ruin my life,” she snarled.

“Did I, though? Or is it just too hard to look in the fucking mirror?”

“Shut up,” she snapped as she uncrossed her legs and slammed her foot down on the ground. “Because of you, I lost everything. My husband. My home.”

“It wasn’t my fault you got addicted to cocaine,” I pushed.

“The only reason I got hooked on cocaine was because your grandfather used it to drug me so he could rape me!”

“And how is that my fault?!” I yelled back at her.

She stood from her chair and reached behind her back as she stormed toward me. Riona pulled out a gun and pressed it to my forehead.

“Riona!” Stefan roared.

She looked at him. “You chose her over me, Stefan. You promised to take care of me, and you tossed me aside for her.” She talked about me like I was his other woman.

Stefan looked from me to her, his eyes filled with true fear. “She’s my daughter—our daughter. Please.”

Hearing Stefan beg made me grind my teeth. My father was the strongest person in the world to me and I hated that Riona was using me to gain power over him.

“You loved her more than me,” Riona said in a broken voice.

“Shoot me, Riona,” he begged her. “If you want Maura to pay, then shoot me.”

“Shut up, Stefan,” I snarled.

Stefan shot me a stern look, warning me to stay out of this.

“Admit it!” Riona screamed at him.

“Don’t do it,” I begged him.

Stefan’s eyes went wide as Riona’s finger curled around the trigger.

“Yes, Riona! I do!” he yelled, his voice riddled with fear. “I love my daughter more than anything. So please shoot me.”

Riona glared down at me with absolute loathing. “Daddy’s little girl.”

She moved the gun from my head to aim it at Stefan and my worst fear overtook me.

Before she could shoot him, her gun was shot from her hand, making her drop it. There was no doubt in my mind that it was thanks to Brenna’s amazing aim, which meant help was here. I took that as my chance to act, and I leaped out of my chair. I threw my body into Riona’s and took her down to the floor.

The warehouse filled with gunfire, taking out the lackeys around us. I got my cuffed hands under my butt and out from under my legs so that my hands were in front of me. By the time I was able to get to my feet, all of Riona’s men were down and Jamie, Louie, Dean, and Asher were rushing toward us.

Movement on the ground caught my attention. Riona was crawling toward her gun. I quickly grabbed her by her hair, stopping her. She let out a yelp as I dragged her backward and flung her to the side.
