“Wow, that was easy,” Liam says.

“Him getting behind bars isn’t bad,” Daniella muses. “I guess it’s selfish to want to kill him by myself. I’m pretty sure he has others who want to end him as badly as I do.”

I remain silent as I drive the car away from the parking spot.

“You aren't saying anything,” Daniella says as she lays a hand on my shoulder. “This is a win, a small one but a win nonetheless.”

I shake my head and sigh. “Giorgio won’t be in police custody long.”

“We still deserve to celebrate this win,” Daniella says. “But first we need to get help for these guys.”

The men injured in the back of my car are bloodied, but breathing and talking as they’re asked questions. We have to save them, get them the medical care they need. But after that, we can eat nice meals and pop some champagne open.

CHAPTERFIFTEEN

DANIELLA

Tonight feelsgreat because of our victory. Marcello and I are seated in a classic restaurant only a few minutes away from the cabin we’ve spend so much time at, munching shrimp scampi and forking spicy steak into our mouths. It feels oddly special even though we aren’t dressed in the usual dressy dinner clothes. I’m in a leather jacket and plain pants, and he has a beanie and crewneck shirt on. A slow jazz standard plays in the background as we steal glances at one another.

“What’s our next plan? Since you think he’ll be released soon,” I ask after emptying my wine glass.

He dabs the corners of his mouth with the napkin and sets it on the table. “Let’s relax and have fun. He’s behind bars for now.”

A small smile crosses my lips. “It’s funny that the predominant word on my mind now is still revenge.”

He reaches for my hand across the table, caressing it. “Add fun. Because that's what we'll be doing tonight. I’ve got eyes around. They’ll let me know as soon as he’s been released.”

I nod. “Okay.”

“Let’s leave vengeance for now and be happy. After all, our enemy is in jail.”

“You’re right.”

He leans back, the leans on the chair. “Have you thought of a name for the baby?”

I shake my head with a small laugh. “I didn’t think I was going to get pregnant in the course of avenging my brother's death. So I’ve got nothing in mind for now.”

He folds an arm across his chest and rests his elbow on it while fiddling with his beard. “Hmm, you’re right. Revenge brought us together. Our love, including this baby, blossomed as a result getting closer to each other while seeking that revenge. I guess we could just call him Revenge.”

A burst of heaving laughter jumps out of my mouth.

“What?” he asks, maintaining a serious face.

I try to control it, but his serious face and tone draw another peal of laughter out of my mouth. “Can you stop—” I try to finish the word, but I burst into laughter again. “I can’t recall the last time I laughed this hard.”

His brows draw into a cute frown, but his eyes sparkle as if he knows exactly what he’s doing. “Why, did I say something funny?”

Another laughter jumps out of my mouth, but I cover my mouth with my palm, suppressing it.

“Okay, I’m lost.”

I point my finger at him. “Please, I can’t help it with that look. Like, seriously? You want to name a childRevenge?”

He presses his lips together, trying not to laugh, then shrugs. “And what's wrong with that? He’ll forever remind us that we’re both strong and can conquer everything that tries to act as a stumbling block in our path.”

“Hmm, let me ask you... Have you thought of the impact of that name in the child’s life?”

“You tell me?” he says with a smirk.
