“Rowan,” he warns.

“I back up my notes on my computer.”

“Jesus, please help me here.” He speaks to the ceiling.

“Fine, I’ll get my bag.” I pivot and sway my hips on my way out.

There’s a low hiss in my wake, and I swallow the girly giggle threatening to erupt.

“Rowan?” he calls from behind.

“Yes?”

“I don’t work again until Tuesday. Make sure that suitcase is packed for days.”

Exhilarating…. There’s no other way to describe this feeling.

I squeeze my arms tighter, leaning my chin on his shoulder as we wind through the country. Nothing but cows, horses, and farms as far as we can see. The roads are mostly empty, allowing Ford to own the lanes.

All too soon, he pulls onto a side road that leads to his neighborhood, making our way to the house.

He parks next to his truck, cutting off the engine, signaling the end of the most amazing ride ever.

“I’m not complaining, but it’s hard to get off with your death grip.”

“If I let go, it means it’s really over.”

“Coming from the woman who complained endlessly about getting up.”

He’s right, I was a bit of a brat this morning when he woke me, telling me to get dressed. It was still dark out, and Sundays are usually the days I catch up on the rest I miss during the week.

You’re even beautiful when you’re grouchy. Trust me on this and meet me in the kitchen. You have five minutes.

He’d left me to get ready to do God knows what with a timetable. My irritation was short-lived when I walked into his bathroom to find one of his shirts laid out over my bag.

When I got to the kitchen, he ushered me into the garage and handed me a helmet. I’d never been on a bike and didn’t know what to do.

He patted the seat behind him and told me to hold tight.

I did as he said and we rode out. Ten minutes into the ride, he pointed to the horizon, and I experienced the most stunning sunrise of my life.

“I’ll admit I was a cranky shrew. But thank you for making my first motorcycle ride so memorable.” I kiss the side of his neck.

“Having you attached to my back gave me a whole new appreciation for this bike.”

I reluctantly let him go and slide off. He catches me when my legs wobble and removes my helmet. “Give your body a second to get its equilibrium back.”

My knees buckle for an extra reason at the glint turning his eyes a shade of mossy green. “How do your eyes change into such amazing colors?” I press my lips together, not meaning to blurt that out.

“Do they?”

I nod. “Blues, greens, greys, it’s breathtaking.”

“Pretty sure it’s the woman I’m staring at.”

My stomach flips and I tip up to brush my lips along his. “Best morning ever.”

He grins against my mouth. “You haven’t had my pancakes yet.”
